LC arrived. As expected. They could have done a way better job washing and detailing it. Pretty half ass.

Lol that solves 1 mystery of where that one went. I looked at it on my initial scan of the market weeks ago. Congrats. Tough buying things long distance but sadly you have to go to where the vehicles are, did you make use of the toyota owners portal and download all the toyota service history?

You can do that on the app too, its pretty amazing and easy, enter VIN, whammo, full service history

I did not. Great idea. Will do. I just relied on the car fax and had a local friend kick the tires on it.

Immediately checked things over. Checked tire pressure and adjusted. And hit the road from Mpls to Mitchell SD.

Very comfortable, quiet. Cruised at 80-85 effortlessly during the I90 stretches that weren’t under construction.

Steering heavier than I expected is only observation.

Wonder if anyone has thoughts.

Thanks to a recommendation from here, I have an appt a local Indy shop for a thorough base lining. And will ask them to check out the power steering pump and rack. All vehicles are different and so maybe just that.

Little bit more rust on the front tow hook attachment points than I expected relative to the rest of the undercarriage.

So wondering what’s up there - exposed to road debris, chipping of finish, corrosion?

Overall love it.

There are a lot of parts on this flagship vehicle that were inexplicably left as raw metal from the factory (or painted very poorly/weakly). The KDSS valve is the prime example. It’s a head scratcher and my one big complaint with the platform.

Front tow hooks probably took some rocks and the paint chipped. That’s likely surface rust - sand/wire brush/needle and repaint and don’t worry about it.

Steering is pretty heavy in the car and requires some effort, at least in my opinion.

FWIW

I just replaced my PS pump, full PS fluid flush along with a bunch of other motor attached accessories

Mine went from loose goosy to “heavy” as you described

Heavy however, is MUCH smoother and tighter and more of what I expect it to be like.

Drove a friends 2021 He with very low miles and his was the same as mine feels now.

The portal will fill in the details on the carfax for the work the dealer performed plus also provide additional insight. For instance one HE i was looking at came in for electrical concerns and turns out the driver footwell was wet and carpet soaked. That was quickly off my list and nothing was mentioned in carfax.

i also finally found a key fob OEM key glove that fits from toyota. i know most dont care but im hard on my fobs and the aftermarket ones are crap. Part is PT420-30230-50 and fits on 2021 LC. YMMV

If you're interested in a local detailer, I just had this guy out to do headlight resto yesterday. Hard working young man, very professional.

And on the tires, I've found the LTX to be perfectly fine all year round. Pretty amazing how well this tire works.

great insights on the LTX. Was wondering whether I should go with dedicated snows like I have in the past for other vehicles but I may try the LTX first.

Do you find it curious that the portal only has this one record whereas Carfax has 7 service records from the same dealer? See attached.

Did you try the app, Instesd of the portal?

Might also be the last owner didn’t go to dealer. Which is probably a good thing

Mine has about 25 dealer records on the Toyota site that don't show on the CarFax and vice versa, unfortunately have to use both resources to get the full picture. Also subject to each dealer's shorthand, sometimes they detail the work, sometimes they list a general service or some kind of promotional code.

You can also just call the dealer and give them the VIN. They can tell you about any service jobs that were out of the ordinary.

Mine had a radio/receiver issue and the receiver and battery needed to be replaced. I called the dealer to confirm there was no water intrusion or electrical issues and they confirmed for me (that wasn't in the service notes).

I didn't cross-reference with the CarFax (lost my paper copy from the seller and too lazy to buy another one).

Curious but not concerning. As suggested I'd ask dealer if you show your registration can they print out the RO's as mapped to your Carfax. Its been hit or miss fromn my luck with them providing citing some BS confidential info, blah blah blah, but doesnt hurt to ask. I have seen some that show no records for sure which is also odd to me as I'd expect a couple.
