Pics or it didn't happen

x2

Well I can't upload pics from my phone, but tomorrow I'll upload some to flickr and post em here. I spent all day cleaning it and just being OCD... Interior is trashed... Seats are nor ripped -drivers has small rip on edge, but they used this for a farm truck, I found about a half bail of hay, and enough Cheerios to buy stock in General Mills... WTF this was clearly owned by someone who gave zero flips about cleanliness. Drives amazing. Front wheel bearings where a little lose, so I tightened them up while I had it on the lift. Other than that yeah it checked out great. Oh it does keep throwing a p0401 code, something to do with the EGR... any ideas?

Sent from my XT1585

Pretty common code, usually involving g a blocked vacuum port or line going from VSV for EGR to the intake, or bad VSV for EGR. Sometimes it can be the green or blue EGR valve.

Most experience shows it does not affect drivability or mileage. I found that it did affect mileage by 1-2 mpg. I am OCD about stuff so I fixed mine by removing g upper intake and cleaning TB and upper intake.

Lots of info here if you search for PO401.

Words of advice:

* do not forget your wallet in your jacket
* bring your cell phone's charger
* make sure the battery works
* make sure the power steering belt is attached (may not apply to you)
* stay away from Modesto
* greyhound buses runs as late as 1am
* tow truck operators will NOT take you any further than where the truck is dropped off
* pay phones do not exist in Modesto
* be sure clutch throw out bearing has not fused with input shaft (may not apply to you)
* make sure you have more than $13 cash on you
* be sure you and wife have a game plan if she doesn't hear from you after so many hours
* if the person you are getting the truck from never makes an appearance but instead sends his sister and her meth head boyfriend, just start running!
* if the radio and speakers are missing although the for sale pictures show them, walk away from the deal.
* if the ashtray is pack and over flowing with cigarettes, walk away
* fxxx Modesto.

it sounds like you had bought a cruiser in modesto... and some of this allegedly may or may not have happened to you lol

Looks pretty clean to me. Hope it gives your friend many miles.

Nothing there makes me want to run away screaming.

Of course, I bet an experienced series 80 owner would've taken a different set of pictures.

Why is the undercarriage wet? Or are fluids leaking that strongly?
cause it just got driven through about 6" of snow everwhere... roads where wet and it was snowing where we picked it up and where the lift was... it doesnt leak a drop of anything...

yeah a diehard 80 guy probably would have taken other pics. i took more than just that, but i chose those as they show the most rust (or the absence there of) and the trashed interior... it was terrible, on par with some of the Minis that came in to the dealer i worked at... i spent the better part of yesterday vaccuming and cleaning the interior as best i could the leather is gonna need more time than im willing to give it -its not my vehicle and the buyer knew it had been sitting and used as a storage shed...(some of the seats say "nilehciM" and "61r07\572P"....)

You forgot to mention the meth and dueling banjos...

I really can not tell that the inside is trashed. Dirty and needs a detail, but I would not walk away because of that. What do the front birf's look like?

If the inside is that dirty just imagine how bad the pink panties are! Amirite @NLXTACY?!

the interior was gross trust me, maybe im just OCD, and a clean freak, but chewed gum, food, melted hard candy, corroding coins old bandaids ect you name it, it was there, thankfully the carwash place has free vacuums so i didnt destroy my shop vac.. i spent a good hour just vacuuming out the interior. and that just got the big stuff.

I am sure you know, but make sure you check the grease levels in those Birfs. Looks like the felt seals have released quite a bit of grease/soup. It will be good insurance for your long journey ahead.

There is actually very little build up. It's one of the cleaner I have seen as far as rigs that have not been freshly/recently serviced.

The owner can pull the interior and fix that level of dirty in about an hour.

The front pumpkin has a hex plug - are there one on the rear and the transfer case as well? That's a good sign of someone who did maintenance, imo.

Looks like your birfs have "something" in them.

Cool ride.

I've never seen an engine bay that looks spotless and the interior a s*** hole. Does the chassis VIN match the body VIN. I'm thinking a body swap was done.
