New to 80s, pickup up for a friend and delivering 1000mi away... any items to look for?

Nope numbers matching... I degreased it and sprayed it off, it was just covered in dust with your typical buildup. It was really clean compared to most 80s I've seen... But with it having sat for so long I wanted it clean so I could spot any leaks it might have or develop on the trip or before...

So I guess I should updated this, and give you all a final account of things from my end. First off thanks to all of you for your help and advice, the truck had not been sitting quite as long as I had thought and was really in great shape other than just being dirty. So on to the trip. Well I made the trip; Portland OR to Chico CA in just shy of 9hrs door to door (not quite 1000miles but by the time all was said and done I put close to 800+/- on the Cruiser with no issues). Yeup it drove flawlessly down there and yielded me 15mpg average for the trip, so I suppose if it's out on the flats it should yield at least that if not a little better, about half that trip is through the mountains and a lot of grades to climb. Speaking of, it didn't bat an eye at the grades, and in fact I was pleasantly surprised at how well it did with them, the torque of the 1fz is really something to take notice of. I mean I didn't even know I was climbing most of those passes... I think it was at least the second if not the third pass that I remembered "oh yeah, I was gonna take it easy..." Well the truck never even hinted at a struggle and it wasn't until it down shifted when I had the cruise set(70mph), that I remembered that and took notice. Anyhow as it was doing so good and not even budging on the temp, I just let things be as they were and kept up the pace. The drive was very beautiful and brought back a lot of memories of yesteryear... All in all it was an awesome trip, I got to seey best friend and his wife and kids, and see my grandma, as well as attend the wedding reception of another good and long time friend. I was also able to see some places from my childhood that I may never get to see again and it was nice to take it all in and just soak up the memories. Honestly the Cruiser was only a small part of the trip for me, but it was the key to it all, and I wouldn't have it any other way! I'm sure it will bring him and his family many years of trouble free motoring and adventures.

Yes yes you can say it, you told me so... As one of you put it, just put gas in it and go. I just like to play it safe and not sorry.

That sounds just like my experience. Except I broke down twice, got ripped off by a shyster mechanic and got to meet the Chandler AZ crew after molesting "Rosie" for a whole new front axle. And hot tubs. Lots and lots of hot tubs. But otherwise, just the same... ;)
