I have an 07 FJ 6mt and just bought a 06 4runner with the V8 I pick up tomorrow. It is an auto 4x4 with 170K miles No frame rust and only has a few dings and a speckled hood. What kind of stuff do I need to check on?

Timing belt

lower ball joints and you might want to throw in a fresh radiator.

I'm in the same boat.

Current 100 series owner thinking about adding a 2003 4runner to the fleet. Can anyone give me an opinion on this rig

Hoping it isn't too rusty but otherwise it has a solid carfax with frequent service history throughout it's life. New tires, brakes, AC. Recent timing belt, water pump and all gear boxes serviced.

Seems a little steep in price but thats sort of how it goes around here.

based on what I am seeing the price looks good. I have four 4Runers in my fleet and 2 of them are 4th gen. One is a 2003 V8 with 250K (mostly Hwy between TX and Rhode Island) on it that is 2WD with cloth seats. Mint condition and picked it up for $6K. The other is a 2005 4WD V6 with 61K miles with some mods (Bilstein lift, ARB bumper) that I picked up for 19K. The kicker for me is always what the frame looks like. I have only bought from the south (mostly TX and Az) so rust has been minimal to non existent. Check the frame, make sure the radiator hasnt corroded and then just buy it.

Appreciate the motivation. I just got some pics of the underside, classic salesman sloppy pics.

What is this thing on the frame rail, does this frame look crusty too you ?
