I replaced the tie rod ends with 555s and new budbuilt tubes and I can't believe the difference it made. I still have to get it aligned, but the difference at all speeds is amazing. The only tricky nut was the pitman arm connection, but a little bit of heat did the trick. I used a $10 pickle fork for the separation work. It now looks shiny and beefy. Going straight on the highway. Priceless.

It's just not a sexy mod. Sorry.

What is the difference (in handling?) between your old TRE's and new? Got photos to post up?

Where did you buy your ends and how much for all the parts.

Akarilo, You got the link to your thread?

i jsut added 555 ends to my rig but kept the stock rods. I got them from kurt from cruiseroutfitters and they were like $97 for all 4.

More maintance than mod. It's like posting up, "Hey, I changed my oil, but I used a Bosche filter rather than a stock Toyota filter."

But, since I have some 555's sitting in the garage, and need to order up a new drag link, I'm curious, OP - you say the difference is amazing - what was it doing wrong that it's not doing now, or is it just more precise? What promted the change? Tie rods loose, just old? Bent rods?
