The timimg belt broke in the driveway....how lucky is that?![]()
That's for sure! He's a Lucky Dog. I thought I was lucky when my (welded) double steering arm fell off while parked at a doctor's office. $75 tow got that one home. JohnThose driveway fail's are great, you've got to train a rig to do that.![]()

, and it’s dirty. Other than that it’s well maintained!!Well Maintained except it won’t start, the starter is shot, the windshield is cracked, the stereo is ripped out, the timing belt has less teeth than an Alabama couple, and it’s dirty. Other than that it’s well maintained!!
I’m going to use that when I sell my 88 PU, “The body is showroom new except the driver fender is a primer replacement, the bed is rusted out to the point you can see through both sides of the bed, there are only a couple of scratches per inch that run from the front of the truck to the tail gate. Other than that she's a cherry!”![]()

What was the trick to get the starter out? Did you end up pulling the exhaust?

give me $100, and i'll tow it out of your driveway for ya!

Sadly I'm not the best mechanic.I couldn't figure it out for a while. The timing is way out, to far for the engine to have any chance of running, but the belt was tight and still had all its teeth.
Didn't make any sense. Yesterday, I marked the belt and ran it around. It skipped one or two teeth per revolution. It appears one of the idlers is bound up and creating enough slack to allow it to skip.

I got the garage reorganized last weekend so it's coming inside so I can open it up. Unfortunately, I'm suspecting I need a head gasket, so I may be in for more work when the timing belt is done.![]()
First think I would do is wash and wax it and look at it for a month until it cools down.
What makes you suspect it needs a head gasket?
