Yes... I know that saginaw is better than either, but is there is any advantage to switching to the newer (79 in my case) style steering box and components over the stock 67 stuff that I'm dealing with now? I mean sure, I can bend re-bar with my bare hands now but I'd rather have easier steering. I have a 79 parts rig and when I towed it home I think the steering felt softer than the my 67 but that could have been the skinny tires, ANY improvement would be appreciated. So whadya think, should I switch hmm huh should I should I (I'm sure removing all those rivets will be :censor: ing fun).

thanks

Saginaw power steering, and do not look back.

Boy you guy's are stubborn! Ok you win, please send all pieces necessary to me at general delivery Iquitos Peru with a copy of the bill. Oh, and a video of how to do the swap in Spanish if it's not too much trouble. ;)

All new brake cyl's and shoes today along with the power brake booster and master from my 79, and while they did that I borrowed tools, a bench and compressed air and rebuilt the Carter 2bbl that I brought from the US at xmas. Tomorrow we get see how good a job I did

Hi All:

Nope, I doubt the 1979-era manual steering is much better than the 1967 except for the obvious difference in age! :D

For a PS swap using local boneyard parts consider swapping in the PS from a 60 or 70 Series Land Cruiser. Do a search here on MUD for "60 PS swap."

Good luck!

Alan

Well, I did the swap and am happy enough with it. Your right and yeah, the improvement in the condition of components was a great improvement, now just need a joint her and there now and it will be perfect. All in all it feels way better and unless I´m just getting stronger it feels easier. Also for the type of driving and wheeling I do around here (mud) my money now is better spent elsewhere, like getting my 4sp fixed up and installed again, new clutch, springs, shocks.

Cheerio
