I like the BFG MTs :meh:

they were on my truck when I got it and wheeled fine = no squeal in Moab

then I switched to hand-me-down Goodyear ATs :frown: squealing all the time on rock, not cleaning out any mud  and less sticky than I would have liked

the new tires I bought earlier this year are BFG MTs ;p = no squeal in Moab (which means I find that they grip a whole lot better than ATs at the same tire pressure - granted, there may have been a lot of factors.....:meh:)

of yeah, one of the new tires blew recently in Payson

Noted, however different folks have varied experiences and overall there is a reason why BFG AT and MT are the choice for the vast percent of the marketplace. If the AT AND MT were "junk" they not "own" the market.

Many factors can play a part in sidewall damage. Most of the flats I've seen were due to driver error (not careful, too fast, not paying attention). Note that I said "most" and not "all".

I really don't care what's on most of the stupid duty's, street queens are most of the market. My problems with them came mainly from two things. First they never stayed round, all of them that I ran became balance proof, square long before they were warn out. It may have to do with lots of DD miles on hot ass AZ black top, but "premium" tire shouldn't do that. Two, they harden overtime worse than most, reducing traction, increasing chunking.

I sure hear a lot about "driver error" from the BFG camp. Oops, cut another sidewall, driver error! Oops, slipped off that rock that a whole line of Nitto equipped rigs climbed right up, driver error!:o:D

After running the Nittos, BFG's are one of the last brands I will buy, other than possibly the crawler. In my experience the Terra Grapplers are much better tires in every way. Talking to some of my tire buddies, customers, BFG's have the highest warranty rate of any premium brand. IMHO overpriced tires, living on a huge advertising campaign and an installed base of whom have mostly never tried anything else, so don't know any better!:hillbilly:;p

I just had a blow out about two months ago on the way to Flagstaff. I was running BFG A/T at the time.

I had been doing my home work, for some time before, and ended up going with Nitto's parent company TOYO. I went with their Open County MT and I gotta say I love the tires. I went with 33x12.5 and was out the door for around $250 a tire. The set needed minimal weight to balance, they ride nice, and are not very loud on the freeway. I had them off road a couple weeks back in the Flagstaff area and they cleared the mud out of the lugs exceptionally well, and I had great traction. I checked several sources on terrain ratings, and comparrisons vs. other tire brands. They scored really well across the board in most professional tests in varying terrain by several independent sources. I would recommend these tires to anyone I meet.

Just my dos centavos.
