After 180K miles, my driver seat is no longer the comfortable cradle it once was. Just wondering if anyone has replaced the seat bottoms before and if it restored the cushy feel of the seats.

Also, I remember a few leather group buys here. Can you recommend a place to get replacement leather seat covers?

Thanks.

I hear that the leathers can be done in a weekend but truthfully, if I bought Shane's kit I'll probably drop it off at an upholstery shop and have them do it. My fingers will probably love me for it.

I just did my passenger front seat with the Shane kit. It's not super hard, but is fairly time consuming. The actual upholstery work is straightforward, the disassembly and reassembly of the seat takes some time.

I'm not sure how much a shop would charge to do it, but I'm guessing it would be pretty expensive. If you're going to have them do the install you might want to also ask if they want to make the covers as well. The Metric leather is a really nice material. The construction of the covers is good/great but not excellent IMO.

Shane, metricTLC, etc. STAY AWAY! He is a thief. Lots of problems and issues and hassles ordering from him.

I had planned on using Metric TLC too but way too many stories of him lying and burning his customers. It's a bummer too.

@LEX Maybe you could check out lseat.com. A couple of guys on the 80 series forum have bought leather covers from them.
I think the company is near Houston.

They do not have a 100 series pattern yet. The leather is not top grade but looks good for $299. per row of seats. They would need a set of old covers to use as a pattern.

I don't know about the overall quality of their work but it could an option.

They do not list Toyota colors but they will send samples of the leather.

The pics look pretty good. I am skeptical since they do not post an address on their site, but they do at least post a phone number. I did some quick googlelicizin and didn't come up with an address. Not sure if I want to be the guinea pig on this one. If they turn out to not be legit, I will be stuck riding around with no seat covers.

Here are some lseat covers for the 80 series. Got to be some old covers around somewhere for a 100-series pattern.

whatever you do stay FARRRRR away from metric..... Great stuff, IF you get the right parts but never worth the hassle and lost money.... I'm one of a long list of folks with parts owed or wrong items shipped with no response or bull**** excuses....

if Lseat is local to Houston I'll see if they want to use my truck for a prototype.... I'd due for covers at some point. Sending an inquiry ...
