So what’s interesting is when I talked to the owner of explore overland, he said he has talked to the red dog guy and he is a nice guy, but it’s like a one man operation with like over a year lead times. But maybe he is shutting down if he is disconnecting phones. I’d call the credit card company personally. Way too much sketchiness for my liking, even if he is legit, waiting a year for a bumper is absurd. I’m already not thrilled about the 22 weeks im at on my bumper. My sliders shipped today, no word on front bumper but when I called last week I was told this week it would
Shop out.

I wouldn’t have even minded waiting if there was just a little bit of communication. The day I ordered this, Brad from Red Dog replied to a question about how long it would take and he said it should go out by end of February. It’s partially the reason why I went ahead with it. But since then, I haven’t gotten any updates whatsoever. I understand life and being busy, but he’s got a business to run and I’m a paying customer. I’m gonna give him til the end of the week to get a hold of me before I contact the credit card company.

He got back to me! All is well. Now we wait. 😭
Have you heard anything since? I ordered mine (FJ Bumper) Dec. 11 and he got back to me one time in January. One of his friends is an off-road influencer (kind of) and I got a few updates from him but even he stopped hearing back. He had said as of a few weeks ago it was about to be welded but idk if I believe that entirely.

It's been over a year with very minimal communication with Brad/Red Dog Fab. I ordered last April 2021 and here we are April 2022. I've had two replies from him...one was we moved to a larger facility so the bumpers should be pushing out soon (September 2021). Then February 2022, unfortunate passing in the family beginning of 2022. I gave him my deepest condolences and requested my order be cancelled.

I hope he works his issues out because not communicating with customers is piss poor. As much as I like the bumper I'm moving on. My build has been in limbo because I've waited and waited for responses and replies. On a side note, seems like the best way to communicate with Brad is via IG although responses are few and sparse.

I’m at 6 months waiting on mine from explore overland. Shipping out Friday is what I was told, but since I ordered it they came out with a diy bumper kit! It’s like 700 bucks too! I’m annoyed I’ll be honest. I would have way rather bought that, saved some coin, and months of waiting and welded it up myself.

About a week ago, I messaged him regarding changing the ship to address in which he replied fairly quickly. I then followed up with an ETA and he ghosted me. Communication isn’t their strong suit and I’m really disappointed. I just want an answer in a reasonable amount of time. I’m considering canceling, but every time I see the bumper on another GX on IG, I want it more. He told me in the beginning of March he’d have it ship by mid-April so I’ll give it a week.

Go to a local fabricator with good pictures. I took everything off, prepped the vehicle for the bumper and dropped it off at a local fabricator with a bunch of pictures, made a few refinements (since it's not a production piece at this point) and he had it done in two days. Cost was $1,200. Looks amazing and the fit and finish on a one off will always be better than a production piece regardless of what you are building. I'm very happy with the end result.

Here are a few pictures of the front bumper.

I worked for a number of years at a fab shop that specializes in roll bars. I so agree that a decent shop could take some of the pics and for 1500 could have whatever you needed. Powdercoat would me more of course. End result would be a great product and the shop might leverage new templates to produce a quicker product for others.

Absolutely!

I canceled my order out of principal. Didn’t even have the courtesy to give me an update or cancel it himself. Had to go through my credit card company. Went ahead and ordered a Lil B’s bumper who has bumpers in stock. Needless to say, I cannot recommend Red Dog Fabrication to anyone.

Have a Lil B on my GX and couldn’t be happier.

Working on cancelling my order. Anyone else been in touch with this guy?

Update on explore overland, sounds like they have issues as well, I’ve spent about 1.5 weeks trying to contact the shop via email call dm on insta, contact form on website and it’s all for naught. Some of my friends are sharing the same issues.

Very frustrating.
I went through the same debacle when Pelfrybilt was selling bumpers on their website after they had lost their shop and filed for bankruptcy.
Hopefully you guys are able to get your money back without too much hassle.

Hope to pick up my new to me GX tomorrow. Was already eyeing the Red Dog bumper until running across thread. Hope everything is made right with any of you left in limbo at the moment.

Anyone know of a comparable looking bumper that has a better chance of being available in a reasonable time?
