The technical answer:
Damping forces of Bilstein valvings for Off-Road are measured in Newtons at a velocity of 0.52 meters/seconds (approximately 20 inches/second). The ratings shown correspond to those measurements; rebound force is the first number, followed by compression force (rebound / compression). Conventionally, the ratings are written as one tenth the damping force in Newtons.
EXAMPLE: Valve rating: 275 / 78
Rebound force is 2750 Newtons at 0.52 m/s
Compression force is 780 Newtons at 0.52 m/s
Higher numbers mean higher (firmer) damping forces. For example, 360/80 has more control (is firmer) that 275/78, while 170/60 has less control (is softer) than 275/78.

Ok, so these 33-230368, 33-104652 finally showed up down here. I went to install the front passenger side one and noticed the billsteins were much much longer than the old factory. The bottom mounting bush was too small as well, but I planned to trim some of the bushing to make it work. What gives?My bilsteins were cheaper than Old Man Emu when I was buying. I wish I would have went a little firmer on the rear shocks, but it still rides very well.

how about a lift kit suggestion?THe bottom bushings are the wrong size for those. Sorry, I forgot to mention you can get a Dayco bushing kit that fits the bottom peg on cruisers, or you can drill them out.
Is your cruiser lifted? If not, then yeah those shocks will be too long. You will need to measure the distance between shock posts and find a shock on that bilstein picture I posted that fits in those specs.
Yeah, I just reamed the bottom bushings on my rear shocks a bit with a drill when I got them, it didn't take much, then a little rubber mallet persuasion and they were in.THe bottom bushings are the wrong size for those. Old Man Emu is kind of what everyone gets but I dont think there is anything wrong with the others.
