since i have the week off i decided to work on the 4ruuner but since it's raining the past two days i have to do what i can inside. I added some lights to the rack for night wheeling and camping and made my own hight lift jack mounts for the rack since Yakima wants $80 for the hight lift jack mounts.. i am not spending $80 to mount a $100 jack:eek:

for some reason i cant up load these pics will try later

WTF :mad:i keep getting up load errors not doing anything different from what i usally do

don't worry Rick that jack is not going anywhere plus i am going to get a cable lock for it im paranoid about that kinda crap happing so i over built it since that jack has some weight to it
no if i could only get the dam pics to work id show you

I like to avoid putting stuff like that on the roof and items inside above the top edge of the rear seat if you don't have a barrier. In a frontal collision the stuff on top can hurt someone else and the stuff inside can hurt you or passengers.

I've seen some sketchy stuff in the 80 section all in the name of a cheap mod. I look forward to seeing the brackets you made.

I can vouch for that, he did a really good job of building some solid mounts, fits in there nice and snug too.

This is probably the one and only time I will ever tell Nat he has a nice, sweet rack.

i will also be running a cable lock from the hi-lift to the main load bar for secruity and safety

In my last 1st Gen 4R I made my own version of Roger Brown's inside HiLift mount which utilized the upper shoulder belt bolt hole on the rollbar. Cheap and secure.

Toyota 1st Gen 4Runner Hi-Lift Jack Mount

i saw that a while back and i had my hi lift mounted like that but no one could sit in the drivers side rear seat with out bashing there head on it. cool idea if you don't use the rear seats tho

Good point, I don't think I ever had anyone in the backseat. :) It also rattled like a mutha'. I had it wrapped up with so many many straps to try and stop the rattles it looked like it was in a cast. :)

Looks good Nat. from the looks of it you could sub out the bolt and wing nut for a padlock.

i was thinking about that today, maybe getting a locking trailer hitch pin

Really? I thought I left the bolt and washers, if not I'm sure I have them on my workbench somewhere, I'll try to find them for you. :) :)

The Hilift will be mounted in the Piggie at some point.

Wow, looks good Nat I really like the lights.
With the roof rack added, how tall is your truck getting?
Is parking in garages a thing of the past :D
