I got the Warn 9.5 cti Multimount and the wiring ordered recently. The Winch hooks up to the rear hitch. The wiring needed professional installation, although a DIY is quite dobable. It runs a thick cable from the battery to to rear via a solenoid. It leaves a plug near the rear hitch for easy connect/disconnect.

Inside the cabin it gives a switch to prevent battery drain by disconnecting the winch circuit.

We needed to pull out a Pathfinder stuck in sand and the winch performed admirably.

I also got a Pull Pal as there aren't any tree where we usually go 4 wheeling.

More pics please. Lets see the hitch and plug up close.

yes please post some pics of the mounting to the hitch; very interested in something like this because of winch theft and just exposure. H2 hummers had a similar product some the ago but getting it modified etc would be to cost prohibitive. thanks again

Sorry for the delay folks.

The first picture shows the power plug just behind the rear hitch. The next one shows the Solenoid behind the battery. I got the 24' cable, there is some extra that will need to be trimmed. The final pictue shows the winch.

My installer hasn't finished yet. There will be a switch inside that kills the power to the winch to protect battery life.

Here is the winch

thanks for the pics!!! hey why are you having an installer do work I thought the point of this winch was that it can be temporary??

The winch indeed is temporary as it can be removed as needed. The wiring from the rear hitch to the front battery, the solenoid and the power switch inside the cabin had to be professionally installed (altho is a doable DIY).

I'd only use that for pulls/winches directly behind the hitch. Any lateral forces don't look like they'd be absorbed too well - by the winch mechanism.

What load is your hitch rated for?

You know you can put a hitch and wiring to the front as well. Is that in your plans?

The hitch is the standard Class 3 that comes with the vehicle. It pulls 8200 lbs. the winch can pull 9500 lbs. I am not aware of how to put a hitch in the front. Can you elaborate with some links.

A quick search didn't find anything for a 100, but put on your google hat. I have seen lots of people that have boats use a front hitch as it is easier to manouver a trailer. I have also seen people use the portable winches on the front as well.

they don't list the land cruiser; any info on if they actually fit the 200 series or any that have actually used these??? I know some people may be saying its a pain to put the winch on there once stuck but I want to be able to remove winch when using the vehicle as a daily driver etc. the front hitch would be great addition

Any good welding shop should be able to fabricate a front receiver. I had one made for my 80 series several years ago for $120 and took a couple of hours to complete. It was a piece of 6" C-channel, mounted across the bottom of the frame rails with an off the shelf receiver tube let in with some gussets added. Later with a slight modification to the grill I was able to flip it over and mount on top of the frame rails cutting a hole in the bumper. That provided about another 8” or more of ground clearance.

Anything you buy I would expect to only bolt up to the bottom rails.

The problem with the rear mounted winch is that it can generally only pull you out from the direction you came up the trail and not through the obstacle.
