My Pioneer head unit & amplified stereo upgrade. By all means gets the most everyday use of all modifications I've made to the vehicle to date.

Yep that’s them. Personaly it was this or swapping the entire center console out for a Prado one with the 4Runner style center arm rests. In the end this was cheaper and simpler.
they are great. I don’t miss the thatching system as I never used it anyway. They flip up for when you want to get to the storage underneath. Also because I have my seats far back the front cup holders can still hold a 40oz yeti cup.
the factory arm rests were way too narrow for my liking as on a long trip I tend to lean and relax to my right side. #gangsta LOL.

Was there any modifications needed to get to work in your 470? I’m getting ready to pull the trigger. Oh and is the beige/ivory color close to the factory color?

Nope just remove the old ones and bolt these on. The factory bolts are on tight and also require a thin sidewall socket because they are recessed. I found that my craftsman sockets were to thick a cheap socket from harbor freight with a light tapping fit.
My grey was very close. Not perfect as you can see but close. Not sure about the tan.

Ok cool. I’m thinking of getting an upholstery shop to redo my front seats with some contrasting brown perforated sections ( gonna custom fab up a seat ventilator) so I might get the arm rests recovered in that same color if they don’t match.

No one has said rear door gas strut mod? That was the first mod I did when I bought my 470.

HID low beam $155 ( 7,000 lumens)

Nitto Ridge Grapplers, Tires alone helped the off road ability and the wife was very happy with the daily road manners. Next I have to sell her on the 2 inch lift... MOOHOO HAAA.

I’m lucky my wife picked some wheels with Ridge Grapplers and asked what lift she should get. Haha.

Installed the Joying unit this weekend. They sent the wrong harness a couple of weeks ago, but they made it right. Email support was good. They were contacting me immediately after purchasing on Amazon to verify I'd ordered the correct head unit. So far it's working well, except for an issue with contacts getting wiped out in my account. Easily fixed with a restore though, & I've exported them now so I should have that problem licked. Configuring the steering wheel controls was easy. Bluetooth call audio was clear, as told to me by the buddy I tested it with. I didn't bother with the extra mic they shipped. Installation was simple enough. One of the retention clips doesn't like to hold tight but I wedged a bit of magic eraser foam against it and it seems to be holding up. Will be replacing the foam with a thin rubber piece eventually. Trying to avoid unnecessary modification to the plastic that I've seen others do with a dremel, because once you shave it off you can't put it back on. Now that I've got the stereo working I can proceed with the backup camera install and work out a surface console mount for the usb inputs.

My first app install was Plex. I use my unlimited cell hotspot data for streaming media off my server and it's working as expected. Very happy with the results I'm having with this unit.

Real armrests! For that GX swagger lean....
A close 2nd rear tire carrier. Allows for a full size spare and looks amazing.

WOAH! Didn't know these existed. Can you elaborate as to the quality or rather more importantly the comfort/cushiness of them?

This is the first car I've owned with armrests and its the best thing ever if you've never had em. I do find though they after make my arm sore as they are a bit hard/narrow.

For real. This, along with upgrading my head unit (I had a non-nav truck) and speakers, has made the biggest day to day difference.

Man those factory cupholds suck

Got a follow up question for you - you converted a non-nav GX470 to a full nav android head unit? What unit did you go with?

For sure. They are very plush and comfortable. With two of the wide you end up with basically one big flat surface between the seats like in a 4runner. I think they are work the cost. The internal frame is sturdy and the leather is real.
