My original factory muffler was practically toast at almost 260K. It had split lengthwise along the side seam, and I temporarily had to tie it together with bailing wire just to stop the rattle and vibration.

I was planning to get the Bosal aftermarket replacement muffler but, with it being backordered on Amazon a few weeks ago, I decided to give the “Northeastern Exhaust” brand muffler a try.

2000 Toyota LandCruiser 4.7L Stainless Steel Center Exhaust Muffler [Land Cruiser] - $197.83 - https://www.upsw.com/2000-toyota-landcruiser-47l-stainless-steel-center-exhaust-muffler/

It is marketed sold by UPSW Autoparts out of New Jersey. It was advertised as stainless steel, and it was selling for a a bit less than $200. So, more than the Bosal, but still reasonable. Made in China, but that’s to be expected at this price point.

I took the chance and ordered it. It is indeed stainless steel, except for the hangers, which are zinc plated.

Has all the correct fittings for the vibration damper, etc. Looks to be an identical factory fit.

I installed it this weekend, and it bolted up without a hitch. The most difficult part was getting the old bolts off, all of which were so corroded they had to be cut or ground off. The only minor figment issue was the rear pipe, which was canted slightly upward. This meant it needed some coaxing to fully mate to the tailpipe. Otherwise, though, it seems like an almost perfect factory fit.

Here it is with the damper fitted, just prior to installation:

It is quiet! The truck’s never been so quiet! So far, so good, so I’ll see how it holds up over time, but right now I am happy with the product. Not sure if others have used this muffler before, but seems like a good alternative to Bosal for a stainless muffler.

Damn, wish I had seen this before I bought my Bosal last yr.

Did you use the new OEM gaskets and hardware to install it?

The muffler came with two gaskets for the front connections, and I bought some stainless M10 hardware from Lowe’s to make the connection.

At the rear, I was able to use the original clamp with a new M8 bolt. It did NOT come with that weird conical gasket that Toyota uses for the rear connection, and I took the chance of installing it without. Luckily, it is not leaking, so I think I’m good.

I've been looking at options for a new muffler this I just found. Thanks for posting, I was leading towards the DT because of the extra clearance and I already have the headers but I'm definitively going to consider this one at this price point and SS! Is the resonator the same size as stock? does it hang as low as the stock? It's a crush can as soon as you wheel a little.

I put a stainless Walker on mine. Cheap, quiet, fit perfectly, and half the volume/size of the original monster muffler. So it sits higher, and is not as close to the floorboards. I was very pleasantly surprised.
I was searching for this and got this:

Can you share link to this product

Just purchase the muffler and for $200 delivered the quality looks very nice. I’ll let you know how the install goes for me.

I just returned from getting a new Dynomax Super Turbo 17748 installed. It was a perfect fit. Cut old out and weld new in. $60 for muffer and $60 for 15-20 minute installation. Now it sounds perfect just like my muffler no longer has a hole in it.

@MissouriLC How is the muffler holding up? Only been a few months obviously but has it already started surface rusting? My bosal rusted out after 4 years salt-free, trying to decide if another bosal ($150) or this one ($200), but not sure how well this will hold up.

I just installed my muffler 2 days ago and the fit was about as good as you’re ever going to get. I replaced the pipe coming from the drivers side cat since the flex joint had started to crack after 20 years. Puchased the Walker replacement from Rockauto and it also was made very well. Took me about two hours to cut the nuts and bolt heads off. The hardest part was the joint on the aft end of the muffler. I should have sanded down the resonator surface a bit so it would slide into the muffler easier, I had to beat the heck out of the pipe to get it to slide onto the muffler.

So far, it looks the same as the day I installed it, save for some heat discoloration on the tubes going in.
