I recently earned my HAM ticket, and received my HT & Mobile radios. :)

I'm working on programming the memories, and have been unable to locate the the New Mexico Band Plan.

Any links or details would be greatly appreciated!

As best as I can tell NM follows the rest of the country, except Utah which does its own thing. Here is the band plan for Colorado:Colorado 2M band plan

Thanks. Just checking the "four-corners" states, there's quite a bit of variation.

NM uses 15KHz separation on 2M? Basically the same as Colorado? Is it the same for 1.25M & 70CM, as well?

Yes, NM uses 15KHz separation on 2M; same as CO.

I believe NM is 25KHz on 70cm. Don't know about 1.25M because I don't have a radio for that band.

Finding this information is more difficult than one would expect.

One of the reasons that the NorCal group selected 146.46 for their 'home' frequency is because it is common to 15KHz and 20KHz band plans. Same with 146.52, the National call frequency though I seldom hear any traffic on that frequency here in ABQ.

One way to "figure out" what the channels are would be to look at a repeater list for the state. They will use the same channel separation as simplex. But Mike is right. Finding out is not as easy as it should be.

Found this. Should help with the 70cm band.
--------------------------------------

The 440-MHz band plan as proposed by the ARRL VHF-UHF Advisory Committee is:

420.00-426.00 ATV repeater or simplex, control links and experimental
426.00-432.00 ATV simplex
432.00-432.07 EME
432.07-432.08 Propagation beacons
432.08-432.10 Weak signal CW
432.100 SSB calling frequency
432.10-432.125 Mixed mode and weak signal
432.125-432.175 OSCAR inputs
432.175-433.00 Mixed mode and weak signal
433.00-435.00 Auxiliary/repeater links
435.00-438.00 Satellite only
438.00-444.00 ATV repeater input and repeater links
442.00-445.00 Repeater inputs and outputs
445.00-447.00 Auxiliary and control links, repeaters and simplex
446.00 National Simplex (Calling) Frequency
447.00-450.00 Repeater inputs and outputs

Standard 440 MHz FM frequencies are spaced 25 kHz apart. In Colorado, the transmit offset on 440 mHz repeaters is - 5 MHz (that is, the repeater input frequency is 5 MHz below the output frequency).

Thanks for the help.

I can find NO information for NM on the web. I found an email for the Northern NM frequency coordinator and sent him an email yesterday. No response yet.

For now, I'll mimic the CO information.

I'm also working on frequencies & repeaters for CM. We're working to respect the Utah band plan, and provide up-to-date repeater info.

Hants,
I used the Moab repeaters last October. I also have the name and phone number for the guy that owns and manages them. I could reach one of the repeaters (I think it was the one in Moab valley) from the West side of E-Hill. We were camped at Devil's Kitchen at the time so one of the Moab area repeaters has good coverage down there.

Do you guys have a thread going somewhere on how to improve communications using HAM radios at the CM event? If you do then I have some suggestions.

Howdy,

The best all-around website that I use for NM info is Amateur Radio Station N5ZGT -- Albuquerque, New Mexico
Brian, N5ZGT, has compiled info on just about everything in NM.

Look at for frequency information:
Amateur Radio in Albuquerque, New Mexico -- N5ZGT Homepage
Amateur Radio Outside of Albuquerque -- N5ZGT Homepage

I mostly use the Upper Rio FM Society repeaters Repeaters -- The Upper Rio FM Society

Bob Witte's site (2M Frequencies) from Colorado has good info also, but NM uses a 20 kHz spacing for 2M repeaters.

For FM simplex in NM, the national band plan applies with regard to the range of frequencies. This is published in the ARRL repeater directory or ARRLWeb: ARRL Band Plans.

FM Simplex 146.40-146.58 MHz, 147.42-147.57 MHz, 445.00-447.00 MHz

There really isn't a band plan within the simplex segments because the range is so short and interference is unlikely. Most often, I find people choosing something on a 10 kHz spacing.

Well, I could talk about ham radio for a long time. I would be glad to help anyone, you can PM here on MUD or email nylla@hotmail.com.

Hi Andy!

Thanks for the information. We have about 6 HDC members that are new HAMs and several that have expressed an interest in getting licensed. Speaking for myself, my reason for getting licensed and using HAM radio is for improved communications while enjoying my primary hobby which is off-roading and Toyota trucks.

We welcome your participation here in the HDC section of 'Mud.
