Hello everyone, new member here! I have been lurking for the past few weeks. This site is awesome, I have learned so much and already have taken on a few small jobs on my new to me 99 100 series, with which my wife rolls her eyes at everytime she see the truck and I together. This rig is actually my second cruiser, I had a 94 a few years back, all stock. I have regretted getting rid of it ever since. So now I have my 99, and do not ever plan to part with her. I will post pics soon, and will accept all cruiser advice, though I think if I search the threads I will find everything I need. Looking forward to cruisin!

Welcome Kevin - trust me we understand how you feel!

Welcome! :flipoff2:

You have already completed the biggest hurdles...you have the truck and you found this site.

Pics are required.

I recently made the move from a locked 94 to a locked 99. Very happy I did it, so I understand where you're coming from!

Not true... coming to the understanding that you will spend more money on mods than you spent on the truck..... And getting the :princess: to approve....

Welcome!

Yours is like that too, huh? I see that look every time I start walking toward the garage. :D

Welcome, you will not be dissapointed with your truck or the many good people on this board.:flipoff2:

I've come to that understanding...the :princess: has not. I about had a heart attack when she told me I could jump in on the DT headers.

Welcome to the forum. I never cared much for wrenching until I purchased my LC and stumbled across Mud. I used to have a couple of wrenches (whatever it took to keep a mountain bike in good repair) and now I get sucked into a black hole time warp whenever I come across a tool section in a store. Take sockets for example; I now have 1/2" long 6pt, 1/2" short 6pt, 1/2" long 12pt, 1/2" short 12 pt. then it all gets repeated for 3/8" and 1/4"..God help me if I ever get an impact wrench or a plasma cutter....All for my UZJ 100.

Welcome to Mud Kev!

Now let's see some pics!!

(Totally get pfran's comments. 'Cept I still got a lot of road bike tools/gadgets.)

Dude your rig is sweet, I was checking out the build thread on your yesterday. Thanks for the welcome!

X2 on PICS!!

Welcome Kev ... we have the same year, different engine.

Lucky for me my :princess: came along when I had the rangie -and ALOT of money went into her (the Rangie) ... :princess: now treats the rangie like part of the family and sulks when I suggest we sell  ..

With the LC -at least the money spent is on improving it -NOT repairing broken items .... so I get a HUGE pass on that one :D

Good luck with your :princess:, enjoy the LC and welcome!!!

Well, jst got my truck back from the shop. I had it looked over for issues. They say I need a new rack and pinion, due to the leaking seals, apparently replacing the seal doesnt work so they did not recommend this. I know I need a new starter too. I figure I will drive it until it doesn't turn, and start it until it doesn't start. They recommended Lucas' power steering stop leak maybe it will get me through a few years. I dont want power steering fluid all over the underside of the truck. Anybody have any experience with this? All and all my truck is in excellent shape. I love it! I owe you guys pics, and I will get them up a soon as I can.

I use the Lucas PS Fluid Stop leak and it's slowed my leak 95%. Of course when your wheeling and binding the system it leaks ( not enough to drip underneath on the ground) but highway and city it's fine. Just make sure you keep a little of both in the back. You never know when she will blow.

And fix the starter, nothing's worse than sitting outside a sandwich shop with a meeting in an hour and your starter poo'd out. It sucks, it's expensive, but take care of it now. So your truck can take care of you when your running a bit late or in the woods with no service.

Welcome to Mud Kev. Looking forward to the pics.

When it is time to do so, my sig is offering a brand new starter. I thought I needed it and bought it on impulse. Many, if not all Toyota starters for our 100s are refurbs. Most on here just swap new contacts in and are good to go. There are a few threads w good pics detailing how to access the starter's location.

Good luck with your new Toy and welcome to the 100 fam.

is the Lucas stop leak just a pour in and roll application?

Congrats and welcome to the madness.....Its all downhill from here. I changed my starter myself when I had never even changed my own oil with the thread from this forum. Everything you need is included. Just takes time.
