My mom bought it new off the lot. She passed some years ago and, long story skipped, the title was signed over to me about 6 weeks ago.

Pics from today. Just hit 325k on the morning commute .

I have the original window sticker and every service record back to the 1st oil change. Mostly dealer maintained. Oil changes every 5k, timing belts per 90k schedule, ignition coils and plugs last summer at 318k, alternator at 313k, new radiator at 265k 7 years ago, new starter in 2014 at 227k.

There was some deferred maintenance before it was gifted to me. I'm working through complete fluid replacement to baseline in my ownership. Heater Ts done.

Has original steering box and the suspension components it was born with. That needs to be addressed. Needs tires and brakes in the next 10k or so. Driver's seat leather was redone. Everything else is completely original. Driver's side fender is a bit damaged from something. Otherwise some minor parking lot dings and scrapes. Garaged kept, Atlanta car, no rust.

So, what to do with it? I haven't really decided. I don't go wheeling. Thought about turning it into an overland rig, perhaps a very mild version. Most likely activity would be car camping. Three kids and two dogs. It's pretty much my Friday commuter and weekend runabout at present.

I suppose it's 25 years old now. I'd just finished college when I first saw it. Anyway, the price was free and the value is priceless, at least to me.

The collective knowledge I've found in this forum over the last month has been incredible, so thank you to all who have contributed over the years.

Some pics:

Awesome truck, and great tribute to your mom that you and your family are enjoying her truck!

Don’t let it go, rare to find one with all the history at your fingers!

Looks great, think of this rig as a reliable touring vehicle. It can be purpose built to rock crawl and do extreme stuff but based on your info so far, keep it maintained, but some good tires on it, and go explore some back roads.

In it's stock form w/ some good tires that is an incredibly capable truck. Learn it's personality and you'll learn to love the reliability of it.

Doesn't look rusty either? That's a huge plus. Known vehicle history and all the major stuff replaced, that's a diamond in the rough. Wow even the front seat is still in good shape.....Sorry to hear how it was acquired but the legacy will live on.

She's a "Bute"! I am not a serious off road guy so I love the stock look. Either way its going to make you smile for years to come.

I vote to leave it stock until your usage dictates otherwise. My '99 LX will go anywhere I want it to (in Colorado mountains), and then some. My '99 LX just turned 325K a while back and it's going strong.
