Just wanted to post about becoming a new member here! Recently picked up @Hokie LX 's LX470 with a ripe 276k miles on the clock. Trading up from a 4th gen 4runner so looking forward to seeing what the Landcruiser is really about. Currently in the process of adding some SPC upper control arms, redoing lower ball joints, a wheel bearing repack, and diff fluid drain and fills. Once that's all done looking forward to hitting some trails out here in CO to see what this truck is made of!

Welcome! Sounds like you're figuring it out...!
I almost forgot, when you get a chance, look up "ignition rod replacement" and find the correct one on amazon or ebay (or wherever), and just buy one. Change it or keep in your glove box. Mine broke while double parked in a busy NYC street. I had to open the ignition trim and use a screwdriver to unlock the steering wheel just to push it into a parking spot, which was very lucky. It only actually takes a few minutes to change, but it can leave you stranded. I epoxied the original and kept it as a spare.
Good luck with your rig!

Luckily previous owner just replaced it after a similar debacle

I'm the PO of this truck. Oddly enough, I had never heard of the ignition rod breaking until it happened one morning in my driveway. Luckily, like you said, it's an easy fix, albeit expensive. It has a new Toyota piece in it now. Grabbing a spare off-brand piece off of amazon would be a solid idea for anyone with these trucks now though.
