I am running OME heavy/heavy on mine with a 1" body kift running on 35"s. I pretty much junked my factory transmission mount at URE playing around, so i installed a IPOR skid plate. I would suggest you
go with a j-lift or a 4", get the caster plates (landtank) don't even bother with the yellow or blue bushings. The body lift will give you some more airflow and clearence in the wheel wells. J-springs and a 2" body lift will allow you to run 37" tires this will keep your COG lower. your axles height above the ground is directly related to your tire size. the lift kit just raises your bumpers and mid section higher. I have to admit i drag my rear bumper/hitch now an then, but the k-mar does hang down, but it seems to be taking it without fuss. everyone has different ideas. I really dont care so much as how it looks, i just want it to function. I have always tried to minimise the lift in favor of stability. Now if i was back in florida playing in the everglades i would tell you to go high or go home, I have been through some holes in a full size dodge with 40" running 12" lift and water was half way up the windows.

If Barnes still has the FOR lift, get it from him - it's 3.5", works well with 285's to 315's, and is the best riding and wheeling springs and shocks out there that doesn't cost +$2000.

Otherwise I'd go with a progressive spring. Understand OME is anywhere from 33% to 67% or more stiffer than stock - which is great if you have +33% more weight on the 80. I believe TJM has progressive coils.

x2 on what Joe says about the FOR springs riding great..... i'm still trying to convince him to make me a 5.5" lift spring like he used to.

Hmmm. I might know where the FOR lift is at.

I would love you forever if you were willing to get rid of it... :D

I will see you in 5 days and would love a present for my birthday (27th)

haha

hey al,
on FB you mentioned a $150 set of sliders. Any chance you have a link to that. My goal is to have this puppy built by uwharrie opening day 2013.

You guys are awesome with all this input.

Eric, I love your setup (lift/tire size) so thanks for your inut as well..

theres a lot of info in 80s tech too ya know ;)

probably the trail gear sliders a lot of folks have welded up for 80s
good price, have to be welded, and welded on and could be considered a hair short but great value.
i believe you want the 78'' version but put a tape on your rocker or give a quick search....
first look on mud said 68 or 74 which they dont make so check a couple theads.
Also the Marlin sliders are similar if not the same and may be an option

boxrocket has a thread....maybe nuclear lemon but just put trail gear or marlin into search in 80s tech

That's exactly what I meant. I wasn't expecting anything free Haha. You should make a little profit as well!

what exactly do you have and what's the price tag?
thanks a lot d

I have a set of Bump-It Offroad slider steps for sale if you're interested. These are the 3/16" wall 2" x 6" rectangle tube, bolt-on, and have a cat skidplate/ski - they are extremely beefy. They are in excellent shape structurally (undercoated with Rust Bullet and Zero Rust), but could use a topcoat since the roll-on bedliner I used looks like crap.

How much for the sliders/skid? Are you going to URE friday?

He makes some beefy stuff.... thinking of their skid plate down the line for me.

Tires are on... Now I need a lift. We shall see if I can flex.

Can't wait to tackle Daniel for the first time. Weather is looking good for this weekend.
