Hi guys

Just bought a 1997 LX450 and had a couple questions

My questions:

What is the vehicle code for this truck, I noticed that many of the forums are chassis codes, at least I think they are.

What kind of problems are common in this year, and what should I immeadiatly check?

Are there any major diff in engine, drivetrain, or anything from the Landcruiser model that I should know about?

Thanks for your help.

So guys, what has been the most common item to fail in these vehicles?

I looked at some of the links and never really saw a thread itemizing the parts that most frequently fail, or need service.

What % headgaskets fail, I have seen a lot of threads on this one?

Some threads for you:
Poll of HG failure -- numbers may not be completely accurate. Check the other HG discussion as well.

Things that people currently have "wrong with their cruiser"

"Mileage on our 80s and any major fixes along the way"

How's that for starters?

Search more -- the answers are there ;)

Welcome - Lots of great resources. Cruiser Dan can get to 95% of the parts you need for a great price. The TLCA and local clubs provide another great resource for your vehicle and if you intend to take it off road.

Do the Preventitive Maintainence stuff first before you start adding mods to it.
