Long story short some guy who was supposed to flash some new keys for me bricked my truck. Upon opening the dash after the fact I found the computer hanging loosely and that white pigtail not plugged in.

The dash won’t even light up anymore, as before the key flashing my key would turn the electrical components on but wouldn’t actually start the vehicle. So now I’m stuck between a rock and a hard place trying to figure out what the **** this guy did to my truck. Needless to say I’m pretty sad about this and have finally gotten over the initial shock and into get s*** done mode.

Before anyone says just call them back, they started deflecting saying a manager would call me back then ignoring my calls altogether. It’s a mobile key place, I learned my lesson.

Little bit more info. The harness this is coming from seems to run alongside the door jam. I cannot find the other side of it and I’m assuming this is the reason for my woes. It might not be and I still need to get a new key flashed.

i have no idea what you were trying to do, or what was done, but i would start by checking all fuses both under the hood and in the kick panels. Next you need to get Techstream loaded up and see if you can communicate with the ECU / Immobilizer. I agree with what Trunk Monkey said, that loose harness is not the cause of your issues.
Also, i think the ECU needs to be bolted down, it's probably missing a ground just hanging there.

Think that's just the glovebox light. Have you tried pulling the battery terminal and resetting power?
I had the same issue on my 2001 with the security immobilizer not disengaging. I did the same thing Trunk Monkey said and that fixed it. Also, I pulled the fuse and swapped in a new fuse for that system. Then a few years later the issue came back so I just did a whole new fuse block and the issue hasn't come back.

All I did was try to get a new key flashed cause mine were lost. What was done was entirely by some a****** with a mobile key company.

Thank you, puts some of my anxiety at ease. I am getting a new 140a fuse and when it gets in Friday I’ll give her a crank and see where I’m at. Battery is on the charger as well to make sure that’s not an issue

I appreciate the advice, I checked all fuses and some were blown including a 100 and a 140a. I have the 140 coming in the mail so I’ll try again come Friday when it gets in.

This is my first foray into electrical work and it’s pretty intimidating but the support is really nice.

I’ll get tech steam in the meantime and see what’s what.

First, never let people like that anywhere near your vehicle. Quick change oil, mobile detailing, mobile keys, windshield repair in a parking lot tent… but you know this already.
:deadhorse:
Second, don’t give up so easily chasing them down. You probably need your truck running soon, so following advice here is potential quick fix, but some dip**** potentially seriously damaged your vehicle. The key company - if it is a company - needs to be held accountable.

I’m not a lawyer, but I’ve found that AI makes it real easy to sound like one for stuff like this. Locate the business owner, give AI all the details and what you want, provide your location, and you can have a scary-good demand letter that cites statues and has all the threat buzzwords that keep business owners up at night. At the least it starts a paper trail that you can hand over to an attorney if it goes that way.

Guys I appreciate the advice and I feel pretty confident about it atm so thank you. I think I just freaked out when I took my glove box off to see what he did and saw the ecu just dangling and that other pig tail loose.

Lesson learned on the first half and I’ll start looking into that on the second cause life has been difficult without my vehicle. Sharing a car with the gf isn’t fun
