New info for the '08 FJ

FYI..

From a mechanic friend at toyota, the Black w/ black roof will be a regular option in '08 only in 4wd. Gone for '08 is Blck Cherry, and they are adding Brick with white roof, and Sandstorm mettalic with white roof. Discountinued the "TRD" package will be replaced by a "sponsored" off-road package with all the known TRD goodies. Off-road package will be Green color.

no i think its just the black/black that is a regular option now.
the windshiled 'issue' isint really a fixable thing.. its just how its designed. the best way to 'fix' it is to increase your following distance (aka dont tailgate)

The TRD package was a limited package for the FJ, and I'd be pissed if they made it into a regular option, or even put out a few more of them. I'm even a little upset with the black on black paint job for the ‘08, because I like my paint job being unique that way.

O well... what can I do. It's all marketing gimmicks anyway, right...

If they want me to buy another one, they had better do a better job with the back end (i.e. tailgate and removable top), and make it more aerodynamic, so the windshield doesn't collect so much junk, so that it gets better gas mileage, and so the center of gravity is lower to the ground.

Those are just my biggest issues with it. Otherwise I love the thing.

Solid front axle
Removable roof
Land Cruiser sized axles
Change the plastic stick-outs on the front bumper-that looks unnecessary

And for 2009:
A diesel option

What I mean is they only made 3200 FJC's with the TRD package, and that's all, period. And I'm sure that in no way affects the TRD package in the trucks.

But now it sounds like with the '08 you can get the black on black (previously excusive to just the 3200 TRD’s), and then buy all the accessories that cam in the FJC TRD SE and have basically the same thing. It would cost a lot more building one that way, but it makes mine that much less special . I'll stop wining now.

On the Tundra and Tacoma, the TRD package was not a limited package, it was an option that you could add to almost any version, ie. Limited or SR5 with TRD package. But, with the FJC, it was actually a true limited edition, with a specific number of vehicles produced, and not an option package you could add.

I didn't say anything about lowering it. I said that making it more aero dynamic could also result in a lower center of gravity... Sheesh!!. ;p

You guys are all wrong

There will not be a "green" special edition. There WILL be an "iceburg" which has the same color code as the white roof. It will be more off road specific options, where the TRD edition was more on-road (bilstiens, exhaust, etc).

I've been sworn to secrecy on the name of the package, but it will not be "TRD" for 08.

Yes, Brick and "tan" will be new colors -- a maroon metallic, and a beige metallic. Black Cherry is eliminated.
