UPDATE: SOLD -- Very happy to say Old Green found a good home. Thanks, MUD, for the resources, and good luck to all looking for a pig like this rig!

[Editing this for all the updates that folks new to the thread may not have seen. Carb has been rebuilt, fuel system and electricals now solid, but engine bit the dust. Check out this newer ad for current mechanical status and updated price... 1971 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ55 -- Needs engine]

I've inherited a little project that I (bummed!) don't have time or space for right now. This sharp-looking rig's been a fun driver for most of the 15 years I've known her, in town and polite off-roading. Not running at the moment (some issue with the carb system?), hence the steal of a deal price. Here's what I know:
  • Paid $5K +several improvements (incl. paint job)
  • Original F engine
  • Solid frame and very limited body rust
  • 3 speed manual + Fairey overdrive
  • Headers
  • Tow bar
  • Less than 300 miles on tires
  • 2014 Troll Hole carb
  • Decent interior with wood panels, new pedals, upholstered bench seats
  • Lowlights: door locks are wonky, rear window has slowed down
  • Asking only $3100 (because my buddy needs the space back!)
  • Check out some pics here 71 FJ55 Cruiser Pics I need to add one of under the hood, and let me know if you want something higher res.
Thanks for looking and spreading the word! I'm in Portland. Give me a holler at: 20jb1544 [at] gmail [dot] com

More info & pics after it got some love from Landcruiser NW shop = Running now, with solid fuel system and electricals. Could still use some more power, and now that issue's zeroed in on carb system. Because it sat for a few months before I inherited it, brakes could use a tuneup. Asking $4500 OBO running as is.

Mystery-free project almost ready for the camping trails again! I added pics of the engine compartment; see sub-folder at link below:

Old Green,

How bad was the rust? How did you handle it, weld in new metal or body putty, etc. Wondering why the sticker at the bottom of the door?

Thanks,
Ron

Hi Ron, sorry I've been way too busy for this for a while. For a 55 living in Portland OR, I think the rust is pretty reasonable. Frame is solid, floor and roof are fine. Rest of the body = just a little surface rust towards the bottom and on door hinges (I'll post pics later if folks are interested). The only places that needed filler were dime sized, on driver's door (the sticker) and by muffler. Green would certainly love a full aesthetic restoration, but not necessary for getting out and having fun.

Hey guys, time to give someone a good deal on Green! Thanks to all those who've expressed interest. I held everyone off for an almost buyer who ended up going for something more fully restored, then I got pulled away by other commitments. Now I gotta get her moved to a new home ASAP. Know anyone who needs a piggy project, especially OR/WA? Go ahead and talk me down from $4500! Or tell me what would make you bite if you *were* shopping... Running, but as is -- needs carb work / replacement for sufficient power, and brakes tuneup.

Give me a holler at: 20jb1544 [at] gmail [dot] com. For serious inquiries, Tony at Landcruiser NW can give you the scoop on its current mechanical status. Thanks!

Yep, still available. Come on over! Here are pics again, including some shots of what little rust there is, for those who were wondering. Email me to talk more if interested and thinking about a visit. 20jb1544 [at] gmail [dot] com
Thanks!

Ok I have seen the pics, is she still available? I'm interested if she is still around. We can talk turkey via PM
