To cure the smoke smell, buy some cheap Vodka put it in a spray bottle, spray the truck down, soft surfaces primarily. Close it up and let it sit a couple days and then open it all up and let it sit a couple more. Should help the smell issue.

Did you pull the carpets and pressure wash them? I had great luck for stains with my carpet set and odor with a friends. Pulled. Pressure washed. Sprinkled with oxi clean, scrub brush into the nap, let sit then pressure wash rinse and hang to dry.

There is also a frigi clean product by BG products for cleaning the air ventilation system. Might be worth a look.

Just a word on the wd 40. It wont do anything for rust except maybe make it worse. As a sinple solvent (kerosene) with fragrance and propellant It will strip any oils and dissipate water but not offer any protection. Depending on the area in need look into por-15 like rust inhibitors or fluid film wax covering

The hood latch. So the interior pull handle is in retracted position and whn you pull it the hood latch doesnt pop open? I had that too and was embarrassed when a liberal lubing of the hood latch cured it all. Think I used a white lithium spray lube.

Jason, any experience with pressure washing the cloth upholstery once removed from the seats of a 60 or 62? I have heard of it done but am fearful that the stream would damage the fabric in the process......

Never had the pleasure of working on a 6x series much other than tune up stuffs. Mostly just helped sell a few . I could see it working but would be way cautious of high pressure. Id likely start with a soak and shake in a tub with light oxi. Caution as i have seen it bleach out colors esp with stronger concentrations or extended times. THen follow with a garden hose spray down and follow with clean water rinse. If you did use a pressure washer id use the lowest pressure and widest nozzle pattern.

I did this on my previous 60 but i put it in the washer inside a pilow case. They came out nice and clean.

Suburbanlegend.....Welcome to the madness. Beware of these people, they will help you spend your money and will wear the magnetic strip off your credit card. LOL! You are in the right place for knowledge, they never cease to amaze me!

A belated welcome.

For some time now this has been my secret weapon for carpet stains and smells. Only about $6 per gallon at sally beauty supply. The trick is it's really just 6% hydrogen peroxide which means it has no odor and degrades into water. Be sure to test on a sample ahead of time and wear gloves. 6% doesn't sound like much but H2O2 is powerful stuff.

(And for anyone with pets here's your huckleberry)

Note ... be sure to get the "20" and "clear"

Thanks for the tip! Do you brush in the solution and vacuum out with upholstery attachment on carpet cleaner? Apologies for all the typos, I don't know how these kids type on these phones so well.

Also success with hood latch, ot finally closes. Actually got to drive it a mile to the gas station. So she definitely missing on a cylinder it feels like. There is hesitation in the first gears when it is most noticeable then you hear/feel it missing in high gears. CEL remains on and blinks when accelerating. The PO put a new distributer on trying to fix the problem with no luck. Anyone have any ideas? It's puttering hesitation. Input some premom in to replace the bad gas that's been sitting in the tank for a year also.

I don't do any type of scrubbing with the hair developer (I.e. Peroxide). It is a bleaching agent (thus the need to test for color fastness) so I just spay it on, let it soak, then vacuum up.

The best solution I have found for cleaning 60 -62 upholstery is to remove and hand wash in the bathtub with oxy clean. Carpets can be pressure washed and hung to dry. Another trick for carpet is to leave them in place, vacuum well, spray with simple green a section at a time. Dip a stiff bristle brush in a bucket of hot water and start scrubbing, getting the carpet nice and soggy and scrub like hell. Vacuum the resulting slurry with a wet/dry vac and towel dry. Leave the car in the sun with the windows open for a couple of days to let it dry.

That stuff Rice uses looks pretty good as well. I have also used borax with good results.

Hopefully this works for posting the image. Sorry for delay, traveling for work a ton.

I've only gotten to clean out PO junk from interior and clean out trim. I also cleaned engine bay a little.

Still not street legal. And I drove out all the bad gas and filled up with premium fuel to clean system out a little. Still runs rough, and am thinking it it is the ecu wiring that needs patching.
