I have been lurking on here for quite some time, really appreciate all of the info that has been shared.

Recently traded the wife's '16 Subie Forester in for a '07 Gx470 w/97k. Tough to trade out a warrantied wagon for an older rig but to the best of my knowledge and y'all on here, the GX will out last her Subie...plus V-8 👍👍

Looking forward to doing some mods and getting this rig up in the mountains and down in the desert!

Up First.
1. Deep clean, wax & clary bar, fluids
2. New Tires w/no lift
3. Replace dry rotted window trim
--> has anyone bought and used the black ones on ebay? Black trim any tips would be great on sourcing, I think i saw megazip mentioned on here?
4.Weather Tech Mats
5. Headlight & fog light resto

I'm sure this list will get longer and order will change but excited to get this rig setup.

Of course any tips/advice is welcome.

Welcome to the club

Pictures?

And you can get taller tires on stock oem wheels with no lift and no rubbing. Look at 255/75R17s

Welcome to another SLC area GX! I'm in the Utah County area myself, but get up to SLC area quite often. There's a good bunch of local Wasatch Front GXs around here. See ya 'round! If you're on FB at all, join up on the GXOR-UT group as well.

On your window trim... that ebay link looks to go to the exterior window trim thats just above the doors... standard chrome on North American GXs. Is that what you're trying to replace is that chrome trim? The Prado black trim has been used by a good bunch of us now and works great. However, that link looks only for the 4 pieces for the doors only. You really will want to do all 6 pieces of trim which includes the rear quarter windows as well or it looks a bit funky with those still being chrome. Plenty of folks have used the ebay ones and gotten them from megazip etc etc. I got mine from ssg.asia in UAE--similar to megazip.

Here's the part numbers I ordered for mine. Defnitely more costly than the ebay ones. I have no idea the quality of the ebay ones, but I would def get all 6 if it were me. If you want to use the ebay ones, perhaps you can use these part numbers to compare and get all 6.

I bought the cheap set of 4 off amazon for $38. I plastidipped the rear window too. Not bad for the price, definitely not OE quality fit, but i expect the material would actually outlast OE. I wrote some more with closeups of that areas that they didn't fit so well in the "What Did You Do With Your 120 Today?" thread. I would do it again, especially because it is raining right now!

You got a sport model? Sport models have KDSS which I like, but don’t have myself.

If I get a long travel rear suspension, then I’ve surpassed the kdss in terms of better articulation.

That’s why I want a non kdss model as well. First thing I would do is remove both sway bars but that would make for a terrible daily driver for my wife so I guess I would have to keep the sport for her.

I definitely agree that KDSS is nice but in terms of articulation can be improved upon with aftermarket suspension, pretty easily.

For me, the hassle of everything fitting a GX (unless it has KDSS. ex. skids...) made it not worth having.

The real benefit of having KDSS is on a mild build that sees mostly street use. There's no doubt it corners better and offers a more stable ride.
