G'day guys.

Great forum. I thought I'd post up a few pics of my 1982 HJ47 Troopy. 2H motor, 4 speed, no AC or power steering. It only has 93,000 km on the clock. It was originally owned by Port Augusta SES (State Emergency Service) and would have seen very little work there I reckon. On old bloke in Port Lincoln bought it from them when it had 70,000 km on it and he added 20,000. My dad bought it last year and I never thought he'd part with it. Pretty happy he did.

There's a few things on the to-do list. That roo bar has got to go. Should be able to find a decent 5 poster at the wreckers. It has a Thomas PTO winch fitted which rules out the ARB bar. I'll install a dual battery system for running the Engel, etc. Could use some window tinting. I just replaced the old Gabriel shocks with some Old Man Emu's and I'll get some new springs one day.

Anyway, here's the pics. Everyone loves pics! :) I make Youtube videos as well. Let me know if you'd like to see a vid or two.

Clean and very low kms. Brilliant!:grinpimp:

Thanks guys.

Just drove it to work (700km) to see how she goes on a longer trip. She hummed along nicely. Probably averaged 95-100km/h. Topped up the diesel at 440km and she took just shy of 60 litres, so I reckon that's about 13.6 litres/100 km or 7.3 km per litre. Pretty happy with that.

Dropped into a wreckers on the way to see if he had any decent bullbars. There were a couple. Also spotted a little shorty forty that looked okay. No engine, interior in a mess, but looks like a good little project.

Here's some pics:

I don't mind this bullbar:

Welcome Sounder, very tidy troopy mate! Are you gonna let on where that wreckers yard is! In SA somewhere? That shorty is an LX with slidin' windows.:D Looks like it would be a sweet project.

Sounder: that is a beautifully clean troopy! Of course I'd like to see some video of it.

Do you have any idea how many parts I want.... nay.... NEED from that wrecking yard? I better call my company and tell them that I need a month off to travel down there, buy some parts, get them in a shipping container and I'll be back once I have scored some of the goodies that my 45 desires. ;)

Very cool!

Dan

The yellow Troopy in the right side of this picture looks like a nice project.

It had a pretty good looking alloy bullbar on it. No idea what that long panel above the rear wheel is. I didn't get too close to this one because there were 3 blue heelers getting a bit cranky about me wandering around their yard.

And here i am, trying to fix a very rusty 45 troopie chassis to replace my current bent one.... Do you ship overseas?
I'm jealous, that's all!

Nice 47!

What's the body like on that shorty mate? I'm getting to desperation point with my rusted out shorty and if I can find a decent tub for it, I will buy, even if it means a long roadtrip.

It didn't look too bad, Herbs.

Had the passenger side rear blow out today. I was about 200km into my drive home. The tyre was bloody hot, so I'm guessing the pressure was a bit low this morning and I didn't do a walk around and spot it.

So I'm thinking about a new set of rubber. I'm leaning towards Cooper STT 235 85 R16. I've had a great run out of the STT's on my Patrol... approaching 90k km on a set of 6.

Cool mate, got a number for that wrecking yard?

Great looking truck I'm building up quite a collection of 40 parts now but that yard!!!

Driving home from work a couple of weeks ago I had a blow out on the passenger side rear. I ended up fitting some new Cooper STT 235 85 R16 tyres. Did a few other things, getting it ready for a week or two camping trip.

Here's a vid:
