For those of you who are running these Fox shocks, I'd like to hear some feedback. I know they're awesome shocks. they are the 5/8" shafts, correct?

Thanks.

Alia,
I sold the cruiser but asked the guy i sold it to to give me his impressions. And yes the shaft is 5/8.

"Hey Jeff... The Cruiser has been great! Since buying it, I regeared to 4.88's, added an ARB air locker and had the front axle rebuilt. The thing is a tank. I've put 6700 miles on it since I bought it from you and here are my thoughts on the shocks. LOVE THEM! On the street it rides every bit as good as my wife's Mercedes and in the desert they are are as smooth as any IFS Toyota with aftermarket coilover setup. I wouldn't change the valving in them so however they were setup for you feels right to me. They seem to feel the same today as when I bought it. I would highly recommend them to anyone." Hope this helps
Jeff

Wow, that's a damn good recommendation. Off to DSM to order my set. Thanks for reaching out to the current owner.

Forgive me, but what is the reason they need to know my lengths if I know that I need 12" Resi shocks for the front and rear (Slee 4")?

Also, did you and Neil/Sonny come up with the valving or are they coming up with it based on the individual 80 attributes?

Thanks again.

I would just talk to Neil, they just want to make sure your getting what you need. I would let him make that call on length, based on what you tell him. if you have a 4' slee from what i remember it is a 12".

valving is set up for each guy so i didn't want to put valving up that may not work for others.

Jeff

I have flexed mine out on several trails and this last weekend on the Pismo sand. They handled the dunes well for the amount of time I was out there. Had some issues and parked the 80 most of the time. You can get adjustable compression for additional coin.

They are more comfy on the street and float over stuff that make my fillings hurt when driving my DD.

Very nice feedback, thank you!

So far I'm loving my new suspension and shocks. I went from the original 19 year old suspension to an OME 2.5" heavy lift with the Fox Shocks. The 10" shocks seem to be the perfect length for the 2.5" lift and the valving Neil recommended seems to work well (but I don't have experience with other shocks to compare it to). My shocks are valved 65/80 front and 70/90 rear. I'm planning to add a rear bumper and tire carrier down the road and Neil said I will want to have the rear shocks revalved at that time. Down South will do one revalve for free you just have to pay for shipping. My new suspension is much smoother than the old and there is much less body roll on the highway. I have only been on a few easy trails- just some ruts, rocks, and bumps but the ride is much smoother than it used to be. It's smooth enough that my daughter, who was only 6 months old at the time, fell asleep on the rough 3 mile road out of Leavitt Lake (http://autoramblings.com/sportsmobile/?p=1928). I have also done some test runs in my local Home Depot parking lot where they have some nasty speed bumps. If I move over so I just hit the bump on one side of the vehicle I can take it at 15 mph and the vehicle stays smooth. If I hit the bump full on at 15 mph you can feel the hit but it's not too bad- there's the jolt right when the tires hit the bump but there's no bouncing around afterwards- you smooth right back out. I don't have any experience with different shock valving so I'm not sure if the ride could be even better than it is. It would be fun to be able to play with different valving to see how it affects the ride quality but for now I'm very happy with what I have.

Bottom line is I really like these shocks and I would recommend them and Down South Motorsports to others.

Wow, excellent feedback. Appreciate you taking the time to write all that out!

Ok so here is the good news for the day.

Fronts $227.00 each
Rears $187.00 each
Free shipping UPS Ground in the lower 48 states
"and obviously we will custom valve based on each individual order for a LC " :)

DS is checking with fox to see what they can do about their order, and will let me know in the next few days what the deal is with fox.

I'm interested in re doing my suspension. Are these prices still current? I'm not quite sure who exactly I'm supposed to order them from, could somebody lend a brother a clue

*edit*

Never mind, I knew I should have kept reading before I posted that. Anyway, if there's any updates or thoughts (good or bad) on your suspension you'd like to share I'm all ears.

My shocks just arrived and I am stoked. The prices will be slightly higher because they have to convert the shocks that were originally built for a Ford F250. Figure roughly $40 per shock. If you want the compression adjusters, add an additional per shock. Worth it IMO. The shocks are still much cheaper than the competition's reservoir shocks. The only shocks that will be slightly cheaper will be the OME LTR's but they don't compare to the fox shocks. These are super sano and the fact that downtown will re-valve them for free one time adds that much more value to the deal. I can't wait to mount them up!

Cool welcome to the club!

And what's your rig set up like, light/heavy? What springs are you pairing up with these shocks?

@ 8871.....Thanks man!

@Ali.... My rig is set up heavy (ARB+ warn 12k winch, lights, kaymar w/ gas & tire swingouts, roof top tent when camping, and I am planning on fabricating a light as possible, 2 drawer system for the rear, and lastly all of my shiite that I use when camping etc. During most weekends I race motocross and have a versa-haul elevated hitch trailer w/ a 450 mx bike on it with a ton of gear in the back for my race. When I finish my 4" suspension lift, I will install heavy, progressive springs. I do not know what brand of spring I will buy just yet. Need to do more investigation.

@Mark.... After speaking with Neil about my normal set up w/ all of the additional gear that is tossed into my rig on the weekends, he suggested this valving to start: 60/90 Front, 60/110 rear. I like a very progressive feel. With the added weight, he suggested going a little heavier on the rebound and a little lighter on the compression because I opted for the compression adjusters and plan on going heavy on the springs. It made sense to me. We'll see how it feels later this month or next.

Here's one photo i can share...

The soon to be released Fox Shox prototype damper for the 80 series installed. I can already feel a difference in the steering. We'll make sure to beat the snot out of it next weekend..

so I bought one of these, and the bushing holes are only 1/2" , and the OME fits a .625" bolt.
Anyone know if I can just buy pins that are smaller diameter and press those into my brackets, or do I need to get a different part from Fox?

nothing on the website mentions our trucks. Didn't expect the size difference...
