I don't know if this was mentioned before, why not use the same specs as the OME shocks as far as the compressed and extended length shocks. This would likely cover from 0" up to the 4" lifts.

Can DS configure them now to the OME L specs as far a mounting configurations and extended and compressed lengths. I would like to get buy a set now. Before a planned deth valley trip next month.

From DS, hope this helps

front/rear are pretty close in dimension I will list the closest dimensions Fox would offer below:

Front & Rear - stem/stem mounting or stem/loop mounting:

24.4" ext and 14.8" coll

25.1" ext and 15.1" coll

Sounds good, I did some research the last couple of days. I decided on getting these ones:

Fox 2.0 Factory Series Remote Reservoir Smooth Body Stem top Shocks 5/8" Shaft

I can use them front and back. I will either fab or buy some stem adapter for the front shocks. I see DS sells this same shock with modified stem mounts on E-bay.

Fox Shocks 2.0" remote reservoir 10" travel shocks with stem to stem mounting | eBay

However with a 4" lift these might be a tad too long in the front for the extended and collapsed length. So my only dilemma is the valving right now. Thanks again Cruisercouple!!!

Will Downsouth be able to help with my valving over the phone?

Probably just slightly different measuring techniques, but I measured the stem top/stem bottoms as Extended = 24 7/8" Compressed = 14 7/8". Works perfect for the ome 850's :) (Looking back, I suspect the 24.4 above should have read 24.8"....otherwise 24.4-14.8 does not equal a 10" travel shock)

I would actually speculate that (depending on setup) that the 10" stem top/stem bottom would be too short for the 4" lift. The 10" stem/stem are only ever so slightly longer than the regular OME shocks, and shorter than the OME "L" shocks. However (again, depending on setup) going any longer may require bumpstop drops.

I could be wrong but I based the fox shocks measurements against the OME L shocks. However on Slee's site the Ls seems to be a 11"+ travel shock. I will have to look into it some more.

Not yet, still waiting on measurements from guys on the GB and then I will be getting pricing.

Jeff- I haven't installed my lift yet since I don't have shocks. I have OME 850 and 863 springs sitting in my garage. I'm hoping someone with a similar setup will be able to give you measurements. I'm ready to order as soon as possible.

I'll try and get some measurements next time I am around my cruiser. Though I think with the 850/863 springs, the 10" stem top's will be about perfect and about the closest thing you can get to bolt-in without lots of bumpstop drop or major mount modifications.

I'm in the same boat. I don't have the lift I want yet. I am going the Slee 6" flavor.

If someone else with that kit could post up their measurements, I could use that as a starting point. at least.

I just called DS today and pulled the trigger on the shocks. Marco was really cool to deal with. I should have them by Wednesday.

Here are the lengths Slee has listed for their new shocks for 2.5" lift-
Front- extended- 26.2" compressed- 15.8" travel- 10.4"
Rear- extended- 25.2" compressed- 15.2" travel- 10"

If someone with a 6" lift could get me the measurements that would be great, I know someone out there can help me with this!!!

Not sure how helpful this will be, but here's a few numbers.

At static ride height, distance from lower mounting to upper mounting. When this was a flat bushing, I measured to the shoulder of shock mount, not to the actual metal mount on the cruiser.

PR 21"
PF 20.25"
DR 21 1/4"
DF 20.25"

I wasn't able to get fully extended and compressed measurements because my floor jack doesn't have that much range. I can say that on the compression, it will compress to the bumpstops, which are in factory condition (about 4" in the front and 5" in the rear to contact with bumpstop)

On extension they'll go to the limit of the shock, which is about 5" droop in the front and 5" in the rear.

One thing I did notice was that in the rear, with 863's that are well broken in, at full extension of a standard OME shock, the spring was JUST about to be loose. With a tad bit extra from a fox shox, it may wiggle just a bit. Probably not a big deal as it wasn't enough to unseat the spring, but if you really got after it I suppose there's the potential. I'll probably strongly consider some of the smaller spring spacers when I get my rear shocks to be on the safe side. (just a 5 or 10mm should do it)

Anyway, I'm still planning on ordering the rear shocks in the near future, just gotta motivate and get around to it.

I have already forwarded this info on to Cruisercouple for our ’97 but thot I would post it as well for reference. HTH. Looking forward to the group buy!

Static or @Rest Measurements:

DS-Front: 23.0 in PS-Front: <<23.0 in
DS-Rear: 22.5 in DS-Rear: 22.5 in

Lift Measurements:

DS-Fr - Compressed: 23.625 in PS-Fr - Extended: 27.0+ in
(PS tire just off the ground)

DS-Rr Compressed: 23.5 in DS-Rr - Extended: 26.5 in
(NOT fully lifted and NOT completely on bump stops!)
(Hi Lift jack was precarious – line contact @ sliders.)
(Hi Lift jack lifting @ sliders just below Passenger door(s).)

Tried to measure metal flange to metal flange on the truck using a measuring tape – not always easy to do. For the rear, I measured from metal flange (which is at a slight angle from horizontal) to the ctr of the pin. I never was able to get the rear tire(s) off the ground using just the Hi Lift so I know my measurements for extension on the Rear are on the short side for sure. I recall struggling with this way back when the lift was first installed and we were trying to measure full articulation and bump stop additions!

Lift:
Front: 1.5 in Alum Spacer + OME 850 Springs
Rear: 20mm of OME Yellow Packers + OME 864 Springs
(We used to consider it a nominal 4 in+ Lift depending on how the truck was loaded.)

Tires/Wheels:
295/75R-16 (~34")
16" factory OEM Aluminum wheels

Weight and ‘Payload’ Additions:
ARB Bull Bar
Warn M10k winch
Dual batteries
TRD S/C
On-board air compressor
Sliders
Kaymar Rear Bumper – dual arm carrier
38 Gal Main Gas Tank
Engel fridge
Towing – trailer has a 400lb tongue wt
Luggage in the rear + tools + ham radio + (4) people

Phil, thanks again for the info. I sent it over to DS and will be calling them Tuesday to see where we are at with pricing and such.

Thanks for sticking with this!

I'm ready to place an order as soon as you hear back from DS. Do you know if DS is going to offer the steering damper?

No problem NorCal.. I am just sorry it's taking so long. I am still waiting on some for their measurements.

As for the damper, it's not being offered. The part numbers that I had for mine did not match anything Fox has in current production.

Guys thanks for being patient . I have been waiting to hear back on a few things and this is what was emailed to me this morning from DS.

"Jeff,

We can see about taking some orders now but depending on how many people want to order and what they need right away Fox is just extremely backed up and a lot of the stem top shocks needed for these LC we have had on order for over 2 months now for stock and we are [pretty much depleted on our current inventory. So as we wait for more parts frpom Fox my inventory may be spotty and Fox isn't looking like they are going to get any parts to us quicker any time in the near future. They took on a huge military contract and shut down off road shock production for like 3 weeks so they are just so far behind filling orders it's ugly! "

believe it or not I am still waiting on pricing :( .

Jeff

Ok so here is the good news for the day.

Fronts $227.00 each
Rears $187.00 each
Free shipping UPS Ground in the lower 48 states
"and obviously we will custom valve based on each individual order for a LC " :)

DS is checking with fox to see what they can do about their order, and will let me know in the next few days what the deal is with fox.
