Do consider that ABS rings ARE NOT included and will need to be obtained. OEM ABS rings are provided as part of the birf to the tune of around 600 bucks a rattle.

Thses birfs will come with the sholder for the ABS ring, you just press yours off and put it on the new birf. These new chromoly longfields are about 2 times stronger than stock :bounce:

Agreed.

Do you have a specific recommendation on a process that is least likely to damage the ring? Since the ring is not available as a replacement part, it would be a shame to ruin one in the process of swapping it.

if these things are made of suitable metal, heating it with a torch migh help to take it off?

Hydraulic press with appropriate tooling would be the way to go.

The graph show here:
http://www.longfieldsuperaxles.com/graph.html

Shows the new chomo longs strength/twist failures.

1. Is this graph referring to the FJ80 birfs or the smaller ones?

The breaking point on this graph says the axle held up to 8,000 ft-lbs and twisted 90 degrees before failure. Upon failure it was the short bar that went first? Is this the outer portion of the birfield axle? The inner is made of chromoly but what is the outer made from? Is there a graph showing the strength and failure of the new FJ80 axles you are coming out with? If the inner/outer axles are the same on your FJ80 product then would the short stub break first as well with the same force? I always thought FJ80 birfs were made much stronger then the earlier birfs. I would love to see a similiar chart showing FJ80 birfs compared to the earlier birfs. Anyone?

You did say "These new chromoly longfields are about 2 times stronger than stock" so I'm wondering what the stock breaking point is for an FJ80 birf?

Sorry for all the questions...just making a decision about buying these or not. Are these axles available yet? The website shows $635.00 but is this price for the smaller birfs?

Thanks!!

the 80-birfs are not yet available.....

the current birfs are for the 40-55-60-62-minitruck crew

the ball/shaft are one piece and 4340 chromo....the star inside is 300M. The balls are smaller to allow for more meat in the bell.

I installed one of mine on Sat, other needs to go in soon. The old-style survived my abuse for over 2 years, these will beat that.

Bobby, what's the ETA on these babies?

Looks good...
