I recently sold my two FJ-55s, and thought I was getting out of the Land Cruiser club. I met 3-Puppies when he came to look at my pigs. During the conversation it came up that he had a couple of 45 pickups. Long story short, I now own a 1967 FJ-45 LPB. Paul was nice enough to drop it off at Montana Auto and Fab, who will be handling some of the mechanical work for me. We are putting Toyota mini-truck axles front and rear, GM 5.3 Vortec with 4L60E, and power steering. It will be a long process, but I am looking forward to having the 45 Pickup I have always wanted. I considered keeping it stock, but I had a 76 FJ-40 with a TPI 350 and power steering, and it was so much nicer to drive than the 55s with stock drivetrain. Selling my 55s, and now I am out of the frying pan and into the fire! My wife may not be happy, but I am! Thanks Paul. J

Is that the elusive B-2 Stealth bomber hood ornament?

Easily trumps the FJ25 T-bird on the bonnet !

Since I am a pilot by trade I had to have the B-2 hood ornament! I have air refueled the B-2 many times, but never flown one, fortunately. 36 hours in an ejection seat? No thanks!

Nice find on the 45.....seems like it was meant to be. Looks like you have a great start for a rebuild. I have a '65 LBP and a '66 LPB. The '65 restoration is complete and it is currently up-for-adoption. Mine have the 'aiming sight' (stock chrome hood piece) as opposed to your B-2 ornamet, but I do like it. Everytime you look at it :steer: there will be memories of flying the KC-135.
I wasn't smart enough to fly fixed wing, but I was certainly crazy-ass enough to fly rotary wing! All of my time (20 yrs.) was spent flying Army attack helicopters (AH-1 Cobras with my final years in AH-64 Apaches. HOOAH!

Sweet looking 45, and even cooler Apache. I have some rotor time, but I never got rated. I retired from USAF Reserve, flew for NWA for a while, merged with Delta, quit Delta, and now fly for U.S. Customs. It is a pretty good gig. I fly PC-12s and C-550s. We also have a ton of helos, with Blackhawks and AStars as our bread and butter. Why are you giving the '65 up for adoption? Let me know if you'd like to trade straight across for mine. :-) You probably want the fun of doing another restoration!

You are still flying....good for you!
Had to make a decision on which FJ45 I would keep and which one would be PCS-ing (just like animals, I can't keep 'em all that I come across...according to my wife). Therefore the red '66 will be staying along with my '80 FJ40. It was in very nice shape when I bought it, so I'll soon be starting the restoration on it. Already added the brush guard and larger tires. It is the first Land Cruiser of the thirteen I have owned since the early '80s that has a Chevy 350 V8.
Best of luck with your restoration and fly safe!

Wow, you have an embarrassment of riches in the Land Cruiser department! Good luck in your PCS. Where you off to?

With the sale of your two FJ55s and instantly gettting a FJ45, sounds like we have the same Land Cruiser-vices ....and that is a good thing!
To clarify, the '65 tan FJ45 will be PCS-ing & relocating to a lucky new owner. I'll be staying here north of Houston, TX.

Thanks so much. They are 33x12.60x16.5 Super Swampers. They came with a truck I bought so I thought I would put them on here.
Probably my favorite tire is what I am running on my '80 FJ40: BF Goodrich Mud Terrain 33x10.50x15. It is a great tire with a rugged military look.

I just noticed that you were in Steamboat Springs....beautiful country! The red '66 FJ45 LPB that I bought back in November was from a guy that lived about 35 minutes outside of there. He had owned the truck for 17 years, was in his mid-60s and felt it was time to sell it. It was in good condition and I have just started on it as my time has been occuppied with the light-desert tan '65 FJ45 LPB.
