Hi everone! I just got a 1970 fj-40 and there are no seats in it, but I do have a set of bucket seats that I want to put in the cruiser but I have no Idea how to mount them. I did a search and didnt find much that helped me, if anyone has pics of there own fab work, that would be great. and any thing that you think would help me would also be great.

thanks

mine are mounted off the frame also. what seats are you looking to put in. some can be made to work with oem seat mounts, but most will require fabrication.

Look in the "vendor" section Top of page 2 shows what faultline fabrication does.

Damn Poser, that looks sweet. How many gal on that massive tank??

I was planning on using like 1 inch square tubing for seatframes when I get to that point, but that is a ways down the road. Thought about not using a bender and just welding it all square with angles in the corners... if you can picture that.

I used 1 in box wall for my aftermarket seats, no pics though yet. I opted to get a little more fancy cause I figured that a square frame could be hazardous when wheeling it over rocks. So what i ended up doing was by way of an angle finder cut a few wedges of about 20 deg. here and there and fit till i was happy.

I have tomorow off and will probably take some pics, havent figured out the resizing jpg thing yet. P.M. me if you want me to e-mail you some shots.

I can picture what you are talking about, had something similar in my red truck for a few years, then made cradles mounted to the cage after I wadded it up a while back...
