Happy new year everyone. This is my first post but I am addicted to this forum. I have what seems to be a common problem. I walked out to my 89 fj62 and saw a puddle of gas on the ground and the smell of gas inside the truck. Upon inspection of the filler neck I noticed that the bottom ramp for the cap was bent keeping the cap from making a tight seal. I want to replace the filler neck does anyone know where to get a new one, either factory or aftermarket with a threaded cap would be great. Thanks for your help.

I have the same problem, it seems the wieght of gas station fuel filler hoses tend to roll the edge over and one tab on the cap pops loose. I purchased an exspensive used filler neck from Spector Off-Road and it had the same problem.

The fix I did was bend a near u shape on a cheap flat blade screw diver and worked it under the lip and pryed and twisted it back into a shape that will hold the cap as long as I don't force the cap on too tight.

I just pulled the exspenive used filler neck out of the spare parts shelf and noticed the end appears to be sweat soldered to the tube. Maybe I will pull out the torch and see if I can melt solder and remove the end and have clear access to do a better repair.
