Got the old carb out...
What do we do with this plate / spacer (photo) that goes on the bottom base of the old carb. it has a vacuum port attached to it. It appears it can be removed... Or just plug the vacuum port?

Any assistance/guidance is appreciated...

Plug the port. Keep the spacer. You need it.

Truck is a Fj60 1985
I'm a visual guy... I need confirmation of Pic 1. Do we just plug this...I also read it need to be grounded to the chasis???

Pic 2...do we still use the thingy circle in BLUE Square in the pic???

I also labeled it and connected it the same way i had it on the old carb. I am confused what to do here...
Any guidance is appreciated...!

For Pic #2...You mention to cap it off... Does that mean remove the Blue Square Thingy and cap all the lines...?

If I remove the Blue Square Thingy system in Pic #2 how is the Fuel Tank going Purge off fumes from the charcoal canister if the Blue Thingy is not there anymore to route fumes into the air cleaner or base of carb...?

Sorry for all the silly questions...and I appreciate your input!

Yes. Only thing you retain on my carb is the vac line for the dizzy and if you still want the provision for the A/C idle up you can leave it. Everything else gets capped or removed.

This may be a silly question... What does everyone use to block off the fuel return line to the tank? My solution failed and caused fuel to leak out due to heat expansion.

Payment sent

Just sent you cash for a carb for my '85 FJ60. No rush on shipping. Just wanted to get in line for the next one. Thanks!

Do you have any F engine carbs, throttle cable type in stock? I have a 72 F engine. If not when will you have some in?

I would also like to purchase one of your wiper motor covers that would fit a 72. Not sure which of the two you have fits. You put early/late as what they would fit and I am not sure what a 72 is considered. I will pay for the carb and cover at the same time and you can ship them together if that works for you.

I have an electric fuel pump also. What fuel PSI is recommended for these carbs? The stock fuel pump is there, though I doubt it still functions or it would have been used by the PO I'm guessing.

If you need any other info from me let me know regarding the carb and I will send payment after all the details are finalized.

Thanks for your time.

Aren't your wipers on top of the windshield? If so then there is no cover. That's how it came from Toyota

I'm assuming your the one I talked to yesterday. So I'll throw what you found up.

Stock carb fuel pressure is 3.4-4.8 psi

Trollhole,
I got your PM and sent you one back. I'm not going to try to fix my oem 78 distributor, I'm interested in changing it to an HEI or whatever you recommend. What's the cost of one and the coil as you stated? Is there a number I can reach you at, I have a few more questions? Pm me if you like. Thanks!, Steve

Yep mine is on top. Yes I talked to you about fuel pressure. I didn't realize there is no cover. Payment sent for cable style carb.

Thanks.

I looked through the thread and saw the question asked before but didn't find an answer...does anyone know the thread size/pitch for the fuel inlet on the f carb?

I installed the carb last night and couldn't get it to idle. This morning, I fiddled with things an got it to go well enough with the choke half closed to get the thing down the road a couple of miles to a stall at the auto hobby shop only to have a very frustrating powerless drive back to the base. Going to change all the hoses under vacuum and tighten things up. I hope this thing runs tomorrow as I don't want to spend the entire long weekend working on this thing.

My issue is that it idles fine but has major hesitation and stalls out under throttle and has no power under load. Anyone else have similar issues, and what did you do to fix it? Thanks for any input.

Ok, I changed out all the vacuum hoses last night and tried to drive it today. Same result. It died as soon as I put a load in it and had major hesitation when I touched the throttle. Yesterday, I had advanced the timing a little, but with no timing marks on my engine, I had to guess and just listened to the idle. Today, I set it back to where it was and am able to drive it with the choke closed about half way. At least it's drivable again, and this is encouraging as the fix may be similar to those who had similar problems before. Sorry for the book, but if anyone can shed some light on the fix, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks,
Jon
