Ordered new CV axles and hub flanges the other day. The outboard dust cover is all banged up on both (per the photo), likely from rough handling during the shipping. I know the inboard dust covers need to be pristine for the install, but haven't heard anything about the ones on this end. Can I run them or should I chase down the parts dealer for replacements?

This exact same thing happened to me. In a pinch, you can rebend the dust shield. If not done correctly, it will cause a scraping sound as it turns. But it is functional. However, the dust shield is a very tight fit by design. It needs to be to prevent dust getting into the back of the wheel bearing.

I ended up returning the part and getting a new one.
