Site Search didn't show much about clutches as I expect 95% of US vehicles are automatic, but I'll ask anyway......

Looks like I'm up for a new clutch soon. Online searches indicate the very late FZJ80 from Aug 1996-on (AU spec) has a different clutch to the earlier models? What changed?

Exedy PN TYK-7109 as a standard duty kit fitting the late models, and include a 'self adjusting pressure plate'?
Exedy PN TYK-8880 is a standard duty kit with a conventional pressure plate.

Exedy's Heavy Duty clutch options don't seem to be of the self-adjusting type so I'm assuming self-adjust pressure plates are a weakness?

At least one knowledgeable AU parts source doesn't recommend the HD clutch options for the later models. 5 Piece Clutch Kit suitable for Landcruiser FZJ80 4.5L Petrol 1996 on DTCK035 - https://www.allfourx4.com.au/epages/shop.sf/en_AU/?ObjectPath=/Shops/allfourx4/Products/DTCK035 though they couldn't elaborate on the phone.

Is the late model OEM clutch self adjusting and do I need a self adjusting pressure plate version for my 1997 model?

I'm not particularly hard on clutches so don't specifically require a HD kit.

I recently put a 4terrain heavy duty clutch kit in my fzj80.
The kit had the wrong throw out bearing.
Searching part numbers showed two different throw out bearings, but I couldn't figure out which part number was for which years.
One was ¼" longer than the other. I needed the longer one.

My 80 hasn't been on the road, so I can't comment on performance.

Compatible with a '91 HDJ80?
