I like that bumper/guard, where is it from?

Safarigard from Rock Solid Offroad in San Diego I believe... contact name is Mike. 951-654-5404, it is well built and seats the winch.. valance needs to be cut but the bumper is high and tight.

Updates...

Recently I preserved the intact (mostly) roof on Doug's 60... had a few rust holes and some surface rust from where the roof rack mounted. It also had major leaks on both pillars. One I re-caulked the raingutter, this went away. I simply wire wheeled the old filler away from the seam. Once I cleaned up the roof with a DA, I painted it an off shade of medium grey which is darker than the silver/grey stock paint. Looks OK in my opinion but most importantly the rust/leaks were addressed.
I cleaned up the Wilderness rack and welded in braces to make the rack more sturdy and capable. Doug and I spoke about this at one point so I know he would be happy with work. I installed some trailer and truck lights I had collected. Doug liked lights and their function on the rack will serve the truck well. I think they look cool anyway though I still need to wire them all up.
I added a Cb (antenna not on in the pics, it's just a magnet type) and finished patching the the cut-out rust holes in the floorboard with new metal. Anyway, without further delay... PICS:beer: to the reader and Doug:beer:

Thanks for looking:)

Rig is looking good, I like the rear facing lights on the rack. Can you aim those?

I can't aim them, they are trucklite back-up lights.. I mounted them as simply as I could byt adding a sheetmetal strip to make the fit tight and added some adhesive to 4 points on the rubber. Works well for mounting, I look forward to wiring them up....

Looks awesome man, Im sure he's surfing mud in the after life....drooling at the pics as well.

I think the same.. and I am trying to build it as he would have intended. I know for a fact he hates the 4" pinnacle lift so I am planning to gather parts for an SOA. My plan is some 0" lift Alcans SO with longer shocks and cut and turn the front housing... adding rear discs at that time... it's coming together well and makes for a nice DD/light trails rig. We all share the same appreciation for 60 series.. IMO the transition model which offers the best combination of OE goodies and Luxo items.

Vive La 60-Series! (and pigs too:flipoff2: )

Haha...
Me and my brother where wondering if you were going to make it to GSMTR...both of us and our rigs will be there...camped by the water...

Hope ya make man,
-Al

i love that 60 man...

you should get an extra pair of housing or even complete axles from gary and work on setting them up soa...might make it kinda easier
but maybe that should wait until the tube work on the pig is done;p

Rims

Well, I finally did something about the 33 X 12.50 MTR mounted on stock rims on Doug's 60. The front right tire wore awful to the point of no return due to the toe out of adjustment..... so I found two MTR's used on ebay and bought rims. US Wheel from Summit, 15 X 8 with 2" BS, yes I ground the calipers, painted them Massy Fergusen Grey from TS co. Turned out well and now I finally have a good full size spare. Steel wheels rule:beer: What do you think?

You may find when you want to swap to rear discs that the 2" reversed rim will not clear the monte caliper. I tried to test fit a 2.5" reversed rim from summit on my 40 with the chevy discs and there was no way I could see it fitting. The issue is when you reverse the rim shell you get the real narrow part facing inside. That is why I returned my special order rims and went with standard 3.75 steelies with spacers. With only 2" you may get lucky and they will clear without spacers.

Very nice looking 60, Bob told me you are going to join us for GSMTR this year. Looking forward to wheeling with you again.

Thanks John, I did not think about the rear disc issue... I am really thinking about 0" lift Alcans and SOA on this 60..... but I will wait until these 33's wear out.

Thanks for the compliments, it is coming along well....

When your rear bumper bolted onto the frame, absence the inner channel. How did you attach the spring hangers? rivets removed and all?

Also how did you get the rivets out. I grinded my heads off and cannot budge the fawkers. Did you use a torch?

That was done before I got the truck.... I can look and take pictures if you like, let me know.... with rivets, usually grind the head off and punch it out. HTH,

I ran a set on my rig till I destroyed 3 of them after 2 trips to tellico...You can run them but you'll have to run 1/4spacers and grind the caliper a hair..Since then I went from 2.5 back to 3.5...and US steelys with out the center reversed. Its all doooable brotha...

Making it to GSMTR?

I wanted to update this thread... I was pulled over by a PA state trooper:frown: MTR's were too wide and were uncovered by the wheel well. So I opted for 33 X 10.50 BFG AT's on the old stocker rims...:) it is so much more road friendly compared to worn MTR's. Also, some other little things were accomplished lately so I should have more to show. Cheers:beer:

I got a lotta rust defense to do under this rig.....MOREPICS

*edit: and I know the shackle is on backwards.. that is the least of my problems with the pinnacle lift. I am getting a set of 62 springs for it and may AAL.
