Hey man...what kind of camper are you looking at? my parents are giving away our "old" camper....too bad you are living on the other coast!! They just got a new one and are just giving away the old one 'cause they don't want to put up with all the BS of selling it. it's pretty sweet my bro and i have taken it on a couple of road trips...anyway you can PM me if you have any questions...not sure if they've given it away yet...

I'll take a free camper anyday. I'm in Boston right now too...completely free? No strings attached? Hell I'll take anything for free! :D

It's a 17 ft Hi-Lo Travel Trailer...but this isn't the place for this convo...so PM JohnnyMan...

Working on the tan. Sunny and 85 today! Perfect survey weather. Had to wear my camo KY hat. They better come through the SEC this weekend.

Going to pick up the winch saturday. Maybe we'll get er done sunday. Probably next week sometime. Need to put the finishing touches on the rear and get the Rancho's mounted too. Also have to install a brake controller. Whew!

Gday Doug
I need to have new bumpers fabbed and really like the clean look and simplicity of yours, have you taken any more pics yet? Id like to see some close up pics of the outside of the rear bumper as well as some of the front if its installed yet. Thanks mate.

Could you post some pics of the swing out latch? Bumper looks great!

We lost Doug

Land Cruiser Friends: I'm posting this to let you know that Doug passed away suddenly March 13, 2005 in Hemet California from a pulmonary embolus. (A blood clot which apparently started in his leg and traveled to his lungs.)

Only 29 years old, he lived a very full life. I can't tell you how much this truck meant to him, and I'm sure he enjoyed your company here. His family located in Kentucky, Ohio and Washington DC and friends all over the world will greatly miss him.

Some background can be found here:

Doug's 60 has it's winch finally

I am writing to this thread in memory of our good friend Doug. Since I am the keeper of his 60, I am continuing the mild wheeler/expedition ready build. Recently, the 2F was rebuilt and hopped up by Jim C. The H55F is the best mod to a 60 ever in the world:)

I recently installed the winch. It is an XD9000 to a SafariGard bumper. The bumper is well built by rock solid offroad. I tried to capture the cut into the valance. I made the cut in two steps and it worked well. It appears this part of the build is solid:grinpimp:

I am planning to do rust repair and rework the roof rack for sustained use. I need to stop the gutter rust. Otherwise, I just wheeled it in coal country recently. It hooks up well and I am making sure to use it as Doug would have liked.

Check the album for more pics....

going to go with 15 X 8 black rims for the MTR's already on there... cleaned up the interior and welded in some patches to the floorboards recently. Added a charcoal canister, clutch master cylinder, and new fuel pump... going to tear into the rack soon and tweak it a little. Driving it frequently, need to get the AC fixed still.. having fun:D

Looks good brotha...We will have to wheel then. We can meet half way. Hows tellico sound?

Tellico for the fall run? Sounds great but I think the 55 will have to handle that trip. Name the date:D :bounce:

on topic: they are 33 X 12.50 MTR's on the stock rims.

Anyone have an opinion on whether I should remount them on 15 X 8 rockcrawler rims of which I already have? the skinny rims make me wonder because they are so sucked in...

I have a set of 33 X 9.50 BFG AT's to put on the stock rims for better mileage around town. I can use them on both wagons really:beer:

you might be better served by mounting those up on a 10" wide rim to restore your sidewall profile, especially if you air down quite a bit....

just my 2¢,

a 10" rim wont hold a bead as well as an 8" rim will with a 12.50 tire on it. those 12.50s on stock rims are prob almost like a poor mans beadlock... :)

that may be true but he's asking quite a lot of his sidewalls (especially when aired down), which generally aren't the strongest part of a tire...

but hey, if you're not destroying tires, blowing out the sidewalls, and keeping the bead seated why change 'em? you can always do it later if it does present a problem, albeit at the expense of new treads ;)
