interesting Chadiln, you have the LX470/Cygnus body molding on the doors but a regular landcruiser front. Did it come like that? oh and take those chrome mirror covers off when you take the grille off!

yes yoda, i mean bmwstoy i sold them to someone else on mud earlier this year. When i met him down in VA it was classic. He was like a child in a candy store happy as can be, and his wife was already shaking her head.

Here's mine with the 285 BFG's and boards...

These tires are great. I'll be getting slidders next, then a lift.

Those of you that have been using the BFG AT/KO's, how do they do in the rain? I've heard they are a bit slippery? No real proof, just "opinions" on here. I am strongly considering these as my next set of tires, but I drive a lot and need something that performs well on dry pavement, rain, snow and dirt.

im in the same boat as pint, i ran at 117mph(gps calculated) with the 285 bfgs with confidence on dry pavement, and drove them in some serious and not so serious snow, but never in the rain as i didnt have them long enough. Since im almost done painting my *new* wheels im thinking about putting the 285s on them and keeping the michelins on the other set of wheels.

I personally feel that they are more of a mud, dirt, rock, snow tire. Oh, and the love rocks - they hang onto them like they are made for each other, then when back on the highway, they throw them in your wheel wells. Great off road tire, not that bad on road but there are better. And they were way better than I thought in the sand.

I would bet my tires that a tire such as the Michelin LTX A/T2 would be better in the rain and dry but it would not stack up off-road. Depends on what 90% of your driving will be.
Personally, I would trade for the Michelin's tomorrow, only because most of my driving is on Dry pavement.

the perfect tire for my style of driving would be michelin pilot sport cups, the ones they put on the Porsche GT3, but uh...they dont make them for my truck! I dont go offroad really, i just want a beefy tire for one: looks and two, when i decide to drive over that median in the parking lot instead of backing out, or rip across that vacant lot of undeveloped land i want something that can take my abuse.

When I had my Tacoma, they did great in the rain. But, the Cruiser being a much heavier truck...we'll see. I've only had them for about a week.

if they did well on the taco(lighter vehicle) they should be better in the rain on a LC no? Less chance of hydroplaning as the vehicle pushes down towards the road more. Am i totally wrong on this?

we are suposed to have an ice storm here in Kansas City today, so I will update you guys on how the BFG's do on icy roads... (only if the roads are truely icy) News forcasters are never right around here.. ha.

That's what I would assume. With the lack of rain in the southeast, I don't recall driving in the wet stuff since I bought the cruiser in Aug.

I have the Japanese spec VX limited. AHC, fridge, etc... the only difference I have noticed that is different from LX 470 is I dont have the memory for the seats, different front lights/grill, and rear. (my spare is on the back, not under the vehicle). The front is original (except for grill). For some reason the chrome mirror covers came with the car as well as the chrome around the rear lights (which I had removed a while ago).

I just finished replacing the grill and got the original back on. Will try to get some better pics tomorrow (about 10 pm here now).

I Love my BFG AT/KOs, but I would have to agree that their rain performance is slippery.

On dry pavement, dirt and rocks I am always impressed, but in the rain, the cruise comes off and I am usually at 10 and 2 most of the time.

Exception: If the road has a good crown with no tire grooves, they are probably average, but when you hit any standing water you better straighten up and fly right cause you are probably hydroplaning.

its funny how we go bling, find 'mud and go back to stock/offroad look.

Haha...I went bling one time accidentally on an old heep in high school (ordered a black tube bumper, they sent chrome instead and I kept it.) I heard the "Chrome don't get you home" quote so much that after it started rusting a month later, I painted it black. Six months later, moab took it off and I was bumperless once again. What the hell was I thinking!?

Down here in South FL, bling is all the rage though. I ran into a guy with a lifted rubicon, winch, high lift, mud terrains etc. I invited him up to Big Cypress for a trail run and he had no qualms about explaining how all his accesories were just for show in front of his:princess:. In his defense, she was pretty cute. How can beautiful women hang out with such posers:rolleyes:?!

hey travis my sister lives in tampa and i go down there to visit often where is the cypress trail you mentioned? most of the time i just go beach stuff but would love to go next time except for bfg my 100 is stock so i may need help on some parts:rolleyes:

that doesnt sound like they'd work for me then, i dont like going slow in the rain :crybaby:

Can we give this thread back to the owner now? I like the look so much, I am going to risk the wife and remove the running boards - see if she notices:cool:
