Hello, all!

I just joined this forum and recently purchased a one-owner 2005 LC and would like to get thoughts on the best options for a lift (2"-3" is what I am thinking) as well as new wheels - keeping in mind that it's beige (not my first choice, but the service records were solid). This LC will be a daily driver (approx. 9k per year).

BTW, I owned a 60 series quite some time ago, when no one wanted them - still kicking myself for selling it.

Thanks for reading and any input!

“best” is subjective- I’d get something that’s as complete as possible. I’m very happy with my Ironman- good cross between quality and price. Beware you get the front lifted too high and it will not ride good. 21.5” center of hub to bottom of front fender max is what I’ve been told by other here to keep it at as a max.

I did a Slee kit.. drop diff, OME torsion bars and rear springs, Eibach shocks, SCS wheels and 285/75-16 KO3s. I’ve been very pleased with it so far. It drives like a jeep on concrete, but on the highway, very smooth. As PlainJane says, don’t lift that front end too much. I’ve got mine at 21.25”, hub to fender.

How many miles? Give it a good look underneath for any leaks or broken CV seals, stuff like that.. baseline your fluids.

Welcome.

Thanks for the input! It has 160k and is getting timing, serpentine, water pump, and hoses done before I pick it up next week. I agree on "best" being subjective. I want to get the ride height up a bit as I believe the stance has a better appearance - likely not doing any serious off-roading outside of finding spots to fly fish.

Here is a pic.

looks like new! maybe think of starter contacts while you are at it.

Be prepared for everyone to tell you to ditch those flares and running boards!

I do a bit of fly fishing as well, here in the skinny water bays of Texas. Need a different type of off road vehicle for that, though!

Ha! I fully expect it. I'll look into that 👍

Since you’re not planning on doing a lot of hard ‘wheeling, how about doing what squidmotion suggested plus tires and a torsion bar “lift”? You could buy even more fishing gear ;)

For comparison, both 100s are stock. Left has the TBs cranked about .75”; tires are 275/70s.

Im curious if the pinch weld mod and the TB’s cranked .75 would fit a set of 255/85/17’s
(34’s)

Hmm, that could be a solid option. Thanks for the visual!

Well - I put the cart in front of the horse! The seller accepted my offer yesterday, held me at bay regarding a deposit, told me he works on a handshake, and used his kids and church as an excuse for not giving his Venmo immediately. When he answered me today, he stated that he just sold it. This is from a long-standing family business owner in NC. Bad business on my end, total welcher on his.

Ouch.

Well, that sucks. The hunt continues!

I'm looking at 2007 with 150k in Galactic Gray with gray (super clean) guts. No accidents - clean body. Long service records, all done at the dealership. 2.5" Ironman lift. Any thoughts on the undercarriage? The last owner did do some sort of light rubber coating.
I appreciate any input.
