Hey guys. Been creeping for a while as a ram 1500 owner. Always knew Id have an LC100 just had to find the right one. Well it came along. 2002 with 150k miles on it. Im already in love with it. First weekend I had it I put some drawers for my tools in the back (Im a carpenter) and that might be the only mod for a while. Took it Wheeling up cypress mountain (B.C. Canada) and it didnt even spin a tire up some seriously steep rocky terrain. very impressed! :).

My one question is, when coming off a red light or stepping into the throttle the steering pulls to the left. Not alot but enough that I have to correct it. ill look around through the threads to see if I can find it but I thought Id mention it here.

Anyways, very glad to be part of the family and ill be posting up pictures and write ups of the future adventures/builds.
Cheers!

Welcome and congratulation on the find. I think the 01-02 are the most bullet proof of all the 100 series. What did this puppy cost you?

Pulling left on take off could be a number of small things adding up. By this I'm speaking of: tires, steering rack and wheel bearings.

First I'd check tire pressure while cold and that all tires are the same type, size and tread depth.

Rack bushing soften over time, and allow steering to wonder from side to side going down the hwy. Or steering wheel may be slightly off center after a turn, in direction of turn. Easy way to check is look in at steer rack just pass the rack boot, from PS, and you'll see it passing though a steel mount with a rubber horseshoe bushing. Have someone turn wheel back and forth, moving tires on pavement at least a few inches as you watch. If rack moves in and out of mount it's time to put in new mounting bushings.

If steering rack is leaking in rack boots or at steering column, you can flush with Mobil one ATF (my favorite), after adding a little AT-205 re-real (seal modifier). This it will buy you some time, before rebuild or replacement of rack is needed.

The number one area I see issues in is the wheel bearing. They should be service ever 30K miles, and tend to be over looked. Or when done, are done improperly. That is to say; most shops' set bearings old school, which is way to loose. Second thing is snap ring to wheel hub flange gap is not set tight or not even checked at all. This will cause damage to bearing, axle and spindle (knuckle). Eventually this loose condition will saw at axle teeth and hub flange teeth causing play, yielding a clunk from N to D or N to R.

^^^^ - happened to the 2000 I picked up. Shop the PO used failed to fully tighten the bearings and the snap ring was loose. Found as I was baselining the truck (had little service records), cost me a new axle and new hub flange (and a set of the snap rings - 5 different thicknesses IIRC). Relatively easy thing to check and see if problems are on their way -- AFAIK the snap ring "gap" in the groove around the axle splines should be as close to zero as possible.

nice... I work out of mine also and it's on a jobsite most day (with my German shepard inside) Like your box each side looks like a great place to hang more tools or a PVC tube for blueprints/plans, or a level maybe... maybe a secondary top with a lip on back that more fully covers the back... could even be on full extension slides... and on and on and on... I think I've just been inspired to build something

Haha glad i could inspire! yeah I plan to put some extensions that fit snug right out too the side walls on piano hinges so Ill have a full platform on top and be able to access the side channels still. Also maybe some tie down locations on top. You guessed it the right side is where my level lives. Cords and hoses on the left

Nice find. I recently purchased a 99' LX 470 with 89,000 km's. Crazy right. One owner garage queen. I'll post up pics when I get a chance.
