Hey All,
As you can see in my signature, I've been on mud for some time, but I recently joined the 200 club after selling my 2006 Land Cruiser to buy a 2014 LX570.
Here are the deets:
- 2 owner, always a California car
- 130k miles, Bone stock
- Extensive service records from Lexus and Toyota dealership. Most recently had the timing cover leak fixed, both lower ball joints replaced, coolant flush, and AHC fluid flush.
Here's the day I bought and registered it. Excuse the terrible photo. Only one I have with the factory wheels
First thing I did was research some new wheels. The 20s look great, but I wanted some more tire sidewall. Tundra wheels provided an affordable OEM+ option, but I don't love the two tone machined look. After some digging I found that the 2021 Train Edition Tundra came with cool gunmetal gray wheels and I scored a set of for locally, then bought a matching 5th on the Toyota parts sale.
Then it was time to figure out tires. I ran Cooper ST Maxx on my last 3 Cruisers, but I felt they were a little too rugged for the LX. Even though I plan to get this thing off road, I didn't want to ruin the fantastic road manners.
I looked at the obvious options - Falken AT4W and BFG K03 but I didn't love how heavy they've become.
I settled on the new Yokohama Geolandar AT4 G018 in an LT275/70/18. Everyone seemed to love the G015, so I'm hoping these provide plenty off offroad durability while still keeping some good road manners.
Here's how she sits today:
What's next? I have some Eezi Awn K9 Roof Bars to install as well as my Autohome tent. I'm also going to see if I can make my custom drawers from my 100 series fit the trunk.
Stay tuned!
