hy i'm afraid fhat i've the only fj 73 in belgium and they are very rare in europe becose they where not imported with fuel engines so my problem is that he is afraid of water :whoops: every time he's going wet my engine is shutting down and i have to dry up all the ingnition  i already have tried to make it kind off wat(erproof but last time i've burnd my ingnotion coil
so iff there iss somebody that knows some litlle solutions that can help me :clap:you're welkom

ps i need to buy a new coil so iff anyone knows some webshop where i can buy one thats not afraid off water i'dd would really helps

already thanks for the info that you will send

In mine I ran the stock points ignition with good leads, cap and plugs and had no problems within reason for a carby engine. What kinda water you going/sitting in? I drove through water over bonnet depth with no problem. When I soaked the engine bay or stopped it would stop though.

I had the same problem :D its was a very small crack in distributor cup,

just get a new one and its will be OK

i ran gassers for decades off road (cheap to buy, cheap to maintain)
silicone spray
make sure the plug wires and cap are in excellent shape
plastic grocery bag and duct tape.

and you will go anywhere the dieselheads can go.

cheers

this time it was big fat mud to the bonnet and i got stuck so when it came up in the engine bay on the coil the engine has stopped and never started again ,there is no spark at all normaly iff i don't stopped and keep the water /mud out off the bay there is no probl but this time even the people around could feel the spark passing into the water

i issoleted all conections with liquid gasket and sprayed sillocone all over it but idd didn't help it work when i wash the engine off drive trough it but not when i stops into it
dusn't the plastik bag go melt

nope, the plastic bag is loosely fitted over the distributor and cap, gather it together and duct tape around the base. this allows air into the dist but keeps mud and water away.

it looks back yard since it is but it works like a charm.

never had an issue, how is it getting wet? it is a sealed unit other than where the coil wire enters...

yes but mine has an extenal condensor and i think it's him actualy that goe' wrong when wet didn't had mutch time to look the previous time but i'm gona check deeper this time a friend of mine found districaps wheater protectors and coils with inner condesor so i'll check my fj asap and then i will see what i will do but i will surely try everithing what you have proposed :wrench:

ps i wich you a happy new year:cheers:

Try cutting the finger tips off a latex glove or two - the type used by medics. Pull over dizzy cap/capacitor, with plug leads through holes.

my 3f would cut out spit and fart if there were clouds in the sky , i looked into geting a electonic dizzy when i was messing around trying waterproofing my dizzy but i think they were about $400
ive noticed in the US 60 series pics over mud they have very bigger and tougher looking different caps to my 3f and other aus 3fs ive seen maybe there better for water or maybe there is a lot of after market ones
thats 1 of the many reasons i wanted a 1fz , as they love water splashes, so to speak

Can a 3fe dizzy work on a 3f?
