I'm not sure but I think you may be speaking of this Jeff ;)

I seem to remember someone else had to go home with only one functional drive shaft. Pretty sure it was a burgundy 40.

And I'd like to point out, for the record, that my burgundy fj40 was on the scene, but high and dry over to the right in picture #2.
So yes, I do have a 40. Sure I only drive it once every couple years, but think of the money I save in fuel for that thirsty V8!

We really need to start bugging Jake (the OTHER burgundy 40) about the lessons learned from attempting to tug someone out in reverse :p

Especially when a 36" boulder is stuck behind the pumpkin.

In my defence, all I will say is you'll never break anything when web wheeling, other than maybe your wrist from watching all the porn.
I've been on a lot of the club runs, almost every one in Canada since I joined, so you play the odds and things happen.

Sorry mat,but sailor (whoda thunk) priceless ,looks polish sounds polish must be polish.ya I know just stay away from the whodka

Sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me. :p

The whole "web wheeler" thing is getting old time for a new burn.

Oh puleeeez.... Mat is the new Lance.

Playing the odds huh? If I was you I'd ask for a new deck...

Your just lucky I haven't documented or no one is around to witness any of your douche-like exploits, when we are traveling. It would be more entertaining to watch. Come to think of it I do remember catching a moment on video, but it has disappeared after being stored on your computer during our trip? Like they say no pics, it never happened, how convenient?:hmm:

was searching for something else and ran into this thread. as harsh as sometimes recoveries could be, its always great to have the happy ending.

i never knew mat has had so many mishaps.

One problem with that statement mat... You have to pull them out, and u know what that means ;)

... Who has never been on his lid or tried to ' run silent, run deep'....

I had 2. What the ****? I know of another certain blue 40 that landed on it's side and nobody makes a big deal out of that.
I have to find some Jeep or Rover guys to hang out with.

two documented cases is actually quite a bit as everything is always multiplied by a factor of 5 to get the true picture.:D

Hence my sarcastic remark. And it was side, you were there.

As for the rest of it, whatever. I won't get into how many trail repairs I've done on other people's rigs just so they make it home. And do I point out your inabilities to do proper maintenance? No, but if it makes you feel better and more competent to point out my 2 mistakes than have fun, hopefully you learn from them and they never happen to you. And if that is the price for everyone else to make it home in one piece then I am happy to have paid it. So piss off already and go sit on a porcupine.

It has been my experience that - if you you don't do anything new - don't go anywhere new - don't take a bit of a risk to test your limits (e.g., water crossings) - then you are not likely to make a mistake either.
Wheeling humility is accepting others' plight with empathy, because it can happen to any of us.
