Hi guys, I'm new member from middle east :)

Is it ok to drive 2012 v6 4.0 gas lc79 with 315/75r16 tires on stock gears and Engine? Is it safe?

I live In a sea level area And all my off-roads trips are between sand and dunes.

I hope its fine to do it without damaging any thing

I only installed EMU suspension 2"

Sorry my english is weak, thank you

fzj7x with the 1fz engine come with 4.10 gears... the new 70 series come with 4.23 gears. thats means the engine has less torque at low rpm ...... my best bet is to change gear to a lower one..

Hi All,

Ralph79, yes it is safe to drive your 4.0L V-6 powered 79 Series Land Cruiser with 315/75R15 tires.

What pocholin means is these over size tires will affect the overall gearing of the truck on the road - what we call "rubber overdrive."

Regards,

Alan

Thank you pocholin. so its all about the tourqe, I mean this size of tires won't damage any thing but less tourqe and performance. Is that what you mean?

Thank you really appreciate it, but I asked about r16 size is it oki to use? And I don't know what "rubber overdrive" means exactly! Can you explain it to me please? Thank you

all the component of the v6 are almost the same as the 1fz, ecept the engine.... same tranny same axles

Hi all,

Sorry, meant to write "R16" not "R15."

"Rubber overdrive" is a slang term for the affect that oversize tires have on the gearing of a vehicle.

If your Land Cruiser came with 29 inch tires from the factory, and you later install 33 inch tall tires, the taller 33 inch tires will affect the gearing of the axles by creating an overdrive effect, lower engine RPMs.

Alan
