Semantics...in a literal sense, I am correct, in a non literal sense, you are correct.

Yes. Semantics. I read it one way and didnt realize the other way until you articulated your point. It's all good either way.

Bottom line: Bypassing the rear heater is a valid option.

Anyway, on removing the hardware after bypassing - for me, it was desirable. I left the hard lines in due to the difficulty of removing them. I plugged the top end with RTV and on the bottom end took a short section of hose and 'U'd' it back on itself. Fabbed an aluminum plate to cover rectangular hole under seat. Also gained some storage space under passenger seat. I kept the heater core - same as the OEM bumpers...lol - but can't see ever re-installing. Someday, I might even remove the hard lines, given the opportunity. But, no rush - the important part, for me was the bypass. Once that's done, the rest of the rear heater system can rot and won't cripple my ride at an inconvenient time.

I just bypassed mine yesterday with the Wits’ End RHD-1 kit. Replaced the heater control valve at the same time. The job was made a lot easier by using a sharp box cutter to remove the old hoses and having a 2 foot step ladder on either side of the bay for access. 2 hours total with a friend, including replacing the multiple connections to the water pump with the single 95-97 hard line style pipe (P/N 87208-60161, which I was able to install in my 94 after the PAIR valve delete.)

One question I have (I remember seeing it posted somewhere but can’t find it now) is whether or not it’s necessary to disable the rear heat switch and how one would do so?

This video was a good resource for the job, and at the very end he says “just make sure you’ve got this switch all the way over” or something. I have no idea what switch he was talking about and am wondering if it connects to the switch in the cabin. As I remember, the only electrical component in the system are the fan controls. The rear fan switch is a rocker that I didn’t disable and front has worked great since I bypassed rear. Could also be the mechanical cold/hot slider on your new valve needs to be all the way one way to maximize coolant flow, if that can be considered a switch. I can’t think of what else they might be referring to.

Thank you. I made sure to put the mechanical slider in the same position as the one I removed, and that probably was hat he was referring to.
