Soup to nuts.....what did this monkey cost?

I guess this guy was serious when he ask that question a year ago:D

I've been following your build since day one. Sounds like an awesome adventure. Look forward to seeing pictures of your travels.

I believe you missed an important point, you need diff locks front and rear, having winches front and rear is good, but you really don't want to use them unless you are really stuck. With a LSD and open diff you will get stuck big time, most LSD are useless, spend the money and have someone fab/fit difflocks, you will not regret it if you intend to use your vehicle the way you say you will. Otherwise be prepared for wasting lots of time and effort winching and farting around for hours on end and not getting to the places you want to go. My 0.02

We were able to identify one company in the world that makes diff locks for the FG. They are located in Australia. They only make locks for the rear diff, nothing for the front. If we would have been able to locate a supplier we probably would have fitted diff locks, especially with our mindset in the opening stages coming directly from the LC concept.

We're headed out for 4-6 weeks of testing in the SW USA. We'll see how we do there. If we come back feeling like you do, we'll see if we can get some custom made for a reasonable price.

Less than a Boeing 737. ;)

You could duplicate the concept for under $100k.
New FG chassis: $30k
New Bigfoot camper: $30k
Custom boxes, raw steel & aluminum, fabrication: $10-30k depending on your location & resources

The rest of the money is in all the hoo-haw that we added.

You would be viable with the chassis, a few boxes, the 3 point pivot frame, the camper and a Honda generator or the stock optional LP genset.

Throw on a couple of solar panels, etc. and you are on your way.

It is important to keep in mind that the FG is not a poor man's MOG or even an LC or Defender on steroids. It's basically a delivery truck capable of working in unpaved areas. Our concept was to drive the truck as far as we were comfortable and then get the dirt bikes out for serious off-road & exploration work. The FG works well within that paradigm for us.

We know of other very capable 4x4 people who take their FG to some very rugged places. We don't have that kind of 4x4 experience or expertise at this point.

We also weigh more and probably have a higher CG (~59" / 150cm) than they do, so we will need to work within the limits of our design. We basically traded ultimate FG off-road capability for very comfortable living while we're on this 2-3 year exploration. This is by no means roughing it.

VERY impressive!!

The smile on your face in every picture pretty much says it all.
