Just had some body work done and partial repaint on my FJ62. I have been trying to put on some 1/4" wide pin strips down the fender to match the ones on the other side am not having much luck. I bought a roll of vinyl pin stripping from the local auto store. Seems like the adhesive doesn't stick well and it keeps peeling off by itself. Any advice is appreciated.

Do I have cheap pin stripping? Can anyone recommend a good brand and source?

Is there a trick to getting the adhesive to stick? I cleaned the surface well with 409 before hand, and it is warm enough per the instructions on the package (70F today in Houston) .

Thanks

maybe try a wax remover? is there an invisible thin layer on the pin stripe that should be removed?

It is pressure sensitive, clean area and line it out and then press DOWN and not pushing it.

Thanks for the advice guys. I think I got it to work. In the end I think I had a bad roll of striping because I bought another roll (same brand with visibly less faded packaging), cleaned the surface with acetone and then used the back side of a rubber sanding block to apply downward pressure. It stuck much better this time.
