I'm quite certain there were no instructions with my rack either...

You're on the right track by following the numbers and it's important that the numbers end up in the right location because it appeared to me that the rack was "assembled", drilled and numbered. It's obvious that there was no CNC technology employed with mine so getting the parts in the wrong place would end up with the rivet and bolt holes not lining up, so in that sense, it's really hard to go wrong.

- The brackets with one angled end go at the front of the rack (left hand side of your top picture), one in each corner, bracing the longitudinal frame rail to the lateral frame rail at the very front.

- The thin aluminum angle piece runs down cross member 2, just like the others.

- The six brackets or feet mount to the locations on the side rails (obviously), and the plated half sits under the rain gutter and the threaded end passes through the upper bracket. Nuts are tightened to squeeze the clamp assembly to the gutter. They do actually line up nicely with the pillars on your Cruiser, this is where the rack is supposed to sit when you finally install it. I plasti-dipped the ends of the brackets (upper and lower halves) with several heavy coats to protect the rain gutter, otherwise the long strips of rubber sit in the rain gutter under the brackets and the "pocketed" rubber bits slide on the ends of the plated bracket that sits under the gutter.

- The aluminum channel strips sit on top of the frame (which is upside down in the picture) but they get pop riveted to the frame in numerical sequence, left to right along the length of the aluminum angle pieces at the cross members. There should be corresponding numbers on one of the frame cross members. I don't remember doing this upside down but I must have - the rivets cannot be seen from the top side of the rack.

I don't see side rails or the light guard in your photos (light guard was optional), do you have them? As for fasteners, if they are too short or too long they are in the wrong location.

It's been a few years since I put mine together so this is off the top of my head, but you seem to be doing just fine so far. If you need any photos PM me and I'll take some of my rack for you.

Good Luck!

Thanks Rusty! I'll try again tonight with this information. I appreciate you taking the time. :steer:

I didn't get the instruction either with mine. Everything was numbered though. The video was some help but not much. I laid out everything in the garage and placed bolts where I thought they needed to go before assembly. During this I found out I was short on hardware and had to source the self tappers for the sides. One thing I noticed is the hardware was standard and not metric. I may change all the hardware at some point so I don't have to carry standard wrenches just for the rack. Sent from my iPhone using IH8MUD

Bought mine years ago from Mudrak ( the ones Alvaro brought in - LaCabra). Not much help on assembly as picked up one that Mudrak had already assembled.

What I can tell you is to replace all the crap nuts and bolts that do come with the rack with some decent stainless steel ones - and I mean all of them. Quality on what's supplied isn't the best IMHO.

yeah that video is gone. It used to be on lacarbra4x4 so I do not even have that to reference.

I got closer with Rusty's tip of those two metal pieces. where do the black rubber pieces go and what about the hardware.

thanks for looking at this for me :)

good idea on the stainless hardware
