My 1999 LC has a coolant leak that a can't figure out. It seems to be coming from the vicinity of the oil filter. This is the best picture I was able to take.

Any ideas where its coming from? Maybe Water Pump?

The "drain" for the water pump weep hole is in that area. Maybe your water pump seals are on its way out.

Whats the history on the timing belt/water pump?

Currently have 208k miles. Water pump and timing belt replaced at 185k (5 years ago).

Maybe thoroughly clean and dry the area, then after a short run take a look with a mirror and bright light?

Check your oil cooler hose. It's about 2 inches. I had my serpentine belt break while I was driving. Put a tiny pinhole in the hose. Soon as the truck warm up it starts squirting out. I removed the hose, went to autozone & the guy gave me the hose for free.

There is a oil coolant line that's connected. It's called the oil cooler line. Housing in which the oil filter screws on

You sure that's coolant? Coolant normally dries out and leaves pink crusties (if you're running Toyota red).

Positive it's coolant. It leaves a red puddle under tha car.

Thanks. I will look at that in the morning. That line might have been disrupted when the inner TRE's were replaced.

That line I'm referring to is also connected to the throttle body and thermostat housing. All 3 connected. Toyota coolant is red

TRE's?

I couldn't find even one picture of timing belt cover weep hole in all my shot of the LX. Luckily I have front #1 under-shield off, while doing base-line. So was able to take a picture today. Make sure you clean the area really good, with care not to get fluid into hole, or you may get a false positive. Watch for fluid weeping out daily after driving.
With engine cover off you'll see all the uppers, with #1 under-shield off you'll be able to see all the lower coolant lines as well.

The print is really small sorry.
Red circle is lower timing belt cover weep hole, yellow is drive belt at bottom of harmonic balancer (large lower pulley)

Thank you for the info. I determined that my water pump is leaking. I was hoping it wasn't that.

Sorry to hear that, and with only 23K miles on it.
Was it replaced with OEM?
Was coolant Mr. T's Red?
Was tap water or demineralized water used?
Was it flushed every 2 years?

I feel like a detective asking question of someone grieving...sorry.

Duh, I'm a bit slow some day's...

Just replace water pump with an Aisin kit from Amazon and leak is fixed. The old one was an Aisin that failed.

@2001LC - I've always used Toyota red mixed with distilled water. System was not flushed since water pump was installed. I've been spending too much time on my FJ60 and neglecting this car.
